Fran Fraschilla posted on Twitter last night that Billy needs our prayers. Billy and Fran were on Danny Nee's staff in the early 80's. Billy was the Cats' HC for three years after Nee left for Nebraska.

Thanks for link and heads up.

One of all-time players favorites as an assistant under Nee and later Huggins. Never had the success as a head coach which led us to hire an alum from D3 Wittenburg, Larry Hunter.

Prayers for Coach Hahn.

My recollection is that when Billy took over at Ohio, Fran left with Danny Nee to coach at Nebraska, then had second thoughts and came back to coach here with Billy. They stayed close throughout. A wild guy who we'll be missed.

So sad he passed away. In reading about him he seemed very well liked by his players and peers. RIP Coach Hahn :(

I guess it might be too much to expect Ohiobobcats.com to post a tribute...

Right now, yeah, it's not a top priority.
Sorry, but why? What's more important than life itself?

Those hot baseball and softball stories for the tens of fans too overwhelming?

It's taken me this long... I grew up in Athens with the Hahn family on the "east Side". Billy was not only my friend's Dad, he was a mentor. Anyone who knew Billy , knew he cared about the players first. So many memories

That is one of the reasons Billy will be remembered. For the "fact checkers". He left Ohio to Maryland U. With Gary W.. and had a great program.. Also I still have the S.I. when he was touted as one of the best recruiters in the Country. much love Uncle

Based on talent ... he had one of the all-time OU rosters if I recall. Dink Whitaker, Snoopy Graham, a true big guy which was rare for the MAC ... and I'm not sure if Jamerson was his recruit or not.

Team was really loaded, but just never came together.

Both Jamerson and Snoop were Danny's as the head coach.
