This whole situation seems like the textbook definition of "making a mountain out of a mole hill" to me. I'm sick of hearing about it and seeing headlines about it.
Had it happened in some random rural high school gym, perhaps but not when it plays out in front of the largest crowd to ever see a national championship game.
Caitlin Clark, herself, said "I don't think Angel should be criticized at all."
She has no problem with the trash talking, and it happened TO HER. Why can't you let it go?
Did you expect her to say anything else? Why would she pour gas on the fire by criticizing her? When behavior (taunting) becomes so common place that it is no longer remarkable, it becomes acceptable. I for one don't find taunting an opponent acceptable. If a kid on any team I have. coached or coach did/does that, they are on the bench immediately. It's called class and decorum as well as the title of this thread - sportsmanship.
+1 Alan
There’s a big difference between celebrating and taunting/harassing. I think everyone on here knows the difference.
Just out of curiosity, I went back and checked the game thread for the final home game vs BGSU. Not one negative comment was made regarding Dwight "rocking the baby" towards the BG bench all the way up the floor after scoring on Sam Towns. Is that not taunting? OCF, you were there, according to your posts on the thread. Why wasn't Dwight called out for his antics? How many times this past year did we see OUR guys hit a 3 in front of the opponent bench and turn and stare at the bench after the make? I remember several. That's taunting, also, right?
For the record, I loved it. Towns gave it to our guys, Dwight gave it right back. It wasn't whistled on the floor, and ZERO of our fans complained about it on here.
