Date: Thursday March 9th, 2023 1:30 PM (Aprroximate time, game will start 30 minutes following conclusion of 11 AM game)

Boogie Coleman sat out last 2 games. Sparks left season finale late with turned ankle. Possibly two most important players on Ball State's roster.

Not sure how others feel, but as a teacher with students dismissed at 2:30, I for one am hoping for a quadruple OT game in the opener. Or, maybe the Convo's clock operator will do the first game Thursday and cause an equally-long delay.

First thing first: Beat Ball State. I believe we can. The Cardinals have proved they can beat or lose to any team on any given night (see wins over Toledo & Kent and losses to WMU and EMU).

Next, I like our side of the bracket. Right off the bat we avoid Kent and Akron. Do I even need to mention Toledo's history in the tournament? The last time they went to the NCAA Tournament was 1980. They face a pretty hot Fiami team playing with nothing to lose under a coach who could make his team run through a brick wall.

But of course nothing matters if we don't beat Ball State. Get that first W, then see where the cards land. I do believe we could beat Toledo if we bring our A game.

Not to get ahead, but last time we were the 5 seed and Toledo was the 1 seed just two short years ago…but yea; one game at time. So far, conference tourney games have been wonky. Top seed haven’t exactly handled their business.

Agree with a lot of the posts above. This is the time to win, and when it counts. Coaches/staff are made for times like this. There is no reason that the Cats can't come away with a W Thursday if we are mentally prepared.. Bleed Green!

It's all about the mindset!

Maybe someone who is going to Cleveland should make up a poster with #Mindset as a key component. Just a thought.

Balls is coming into this tournament with about as much momentum as a sloth crossing the road. They've lost four of their last 5, though the one win was over Kent State. They played both Akron and Toledo tough too and had a six game winning streak before the loss at WMU. They also beat Akron and Toledo earlier in the year, so it's hard to know which Ball State team we're going to see on Thursday. They are more than capable of winning the whole thing, but also more than capable of losing by double digits.

In the first matchup, Ohio forced 20 turnovers and kept Ball State under 35% from three. That's essentially what won Ohio the game because the Cardinals won the rebounding battle and shot more and better from the free throw line. DW3 was a man in the paint and Jaylin Hunter had his coming out party scoring 23 on 7/12 shooting.

Can't count on 20 turnovers this time around. Have to get better on the boards and get to the FT line more often.

While I would give us the 4th best chance I see a big gap between 2 and 3 and between 3 & 4. I wouldn't take that bet.
