If the referee can see that any part of the ball is below cylinder level or it is OBVIOUS the ball will not make it to the rim, you can't have goaltending.
From my vantage point the shot looked online however no depth perception to see if it was short. The reaction from the end of the Kent bench players was one of disbelief as they stood acting like they got away with one.

What did replays show, was the ball grabbed as any part of it was below the rim?

Solid showing, especially with Dwight only scoring 7. Of the 8 who played, everyone chipped in at least 6 points. Great team effort, but the talent and athleticism difference showed at the end. That’s not a knock on us, that’s just the reality.

Jaylin made some big shots, but I didn’t love his decision making in this game. Felt like he was pressing to go head-to-head with Carry. Four turnovers and a some forced shots when he had an open man.

The better team just locked it down and pulled away. Kent is the type of team that will find a way to win, rather than lose. I suspect Wiz will be inserted back into the rotation starting Friday. For better or for worse.

The goal tend might have been missed, but I can't be the only one who is a little worn out on the perceived tendency to whine and complain to the officials on what feels like a regular basis to me. That sort of thing can rub off on the players, can't it?

Calling a time out at the end with two seconds left to make a point about that? C'mon.
100% agree. Every coach gets on the refs but ours are definitely a bit extra whiney and that victim mentality has to rub off on the team. For example if Wiz was my player I would take him out of the game every time he got his bitchy body language after one of his many illegal screens. Can't play the game frustrated. Take it and move on.

since i was relegated to radio yesterday, R&R clarified that they had the best angle on the goaltend that wasn't. the ball was never getting to the rim and was already below the rim when touched by the kent player.

Does anyone know how tiebreakers work with us, Northern and Buffalo? If we lose and they both win we all finish 9-9. It's the difference between spots 5, 6 and 7. Toledo I believe lost its only game to Kent so if they lose and Kent wins Kent is 1 but Kent could also fall to 3 if they lose to Kron who would have swept the Flasses. I definitely would rather play Ballz first than the other guys.

There's discussion about it in the "Tightening at the top" thread.

I'm actually surprised his body language hasn't been a topic of discussion more often on here. I can't be the only one who notices the untucking of the jersey after a foul or turnover. I mean, what could be worse body language in basketball than halfway undressing?

Did you notice Sincere Carry's body language? Really nice player but...

The game showed who we are. If we hit 9-3 point shots in a half, we can be good. If we don’t we are in trouble (second half). Inconsistent. On defense we seldom play a good game. Gave up 80 and couldn’t stop the pick and roll which resulted in bunnies or dunks when dw3 jumped out or Cary threes if he didn’t. Just not enough effort on defense. Consistent theme in our losses.

I want to hate Kent State because they're Kent State, but when I watch them play, I sure wish that was the team I was cheering for. They play incredibly energized at all time. Hard to even catch your breath against them.

Just checked Senderoff's Kent record. HC since 2011. Only one regular season title and one conf tourney title. But he has been Mr. Consistent. 8 seasons of 20 or more wins. No losing season. Record to date: 243-146.

inconsistent is exactly what this team is. we played michigan in their place and almost won a game many thought wed lose by 20-30. then akron came to our pplace and we dominated and won that game. yet we go to miami and get egg thrown in our face and kent beats us for the 2nd time. would ove to know how akron ,kent or toledo would d o against florida or michigan. id say either team would wipe the floor with kent, toledo ,or akron. i can just imagine the frustration sincere carry would be feeling when alex fudge blocks his shots at will. if kent plays florida they would lose by at least 40

I’d be willing the bet Kent could beat Florida; I was at that game. Florida wasn’t THAT good, we were just atrocious so it looked more lopsided than it should have been. Kent lost by single digits on the road to Gonzaga and Houston who are light years better than Florida.

Also, Alex Fudge is just another once upon a time big named recruits. He’s been irrelevant almost the entirety of SEC play and most of his 2 year collegiate career.

Tell us more. You might not have seen that our at Litchfield and Firestone but at Goodyear and East it was evident every day. Guys would lull you to sleep then just blow by you.

My gut tells me that you are just joking. I was in Tampa for this disaster. Florida is not good at all. I have no doubt that Kent would beat Florida with Castleton in the Gators lineup.

+1. Carry is Player - meaning he can PLAY - assists and hit shots!

We couldn't have played better. And we still lost by double digits.

The gulf in talent and athleticism (and defense) is real.
You must have had a late night at Swanky’s before your 8am math class.

We hit 12 3's. Our Offense Rating was 130.0 (4th best this season - and we did it against the overwhelming best defense in the MAC on their home floor).

We had the lead at the half and were up double digits in the 2nd half.

You really can't ask for more than that from this team.

And yet, the final 12+ minutes Kent just walked away from us. They turned up the D and we had no answers. To the point we were down 10 (until a garbage time 3 with seconds remaining). So yes, we still lost (essentially) by double digits.
