I hope these invitations to the low level tournaments are given out in order of merit and not publicity. If that's the case it would take a lot of declining to see Detroit play again. I don't have a lot a faith that this will be the case.

With all the differences in scheduling, freshman eligibility, missed COVID games, added covid years, three point shots, charge circles, competition levels, two guys end up with almost exactly the same number of points.

Sure! Why not. That way when Davis “breaks the record” further asterisk explanation footnotes can be added. Something like “An undeserving Detroit Mercy team was invited to CBI tournament so Davis could break the record”. Works for me.
Or, you can put the footnote of "things that shouldn't cause you so much anger because it has nothing to do with Ohio University and it's just something cool that even the Pistol would have loved."
I sort of doubt Pistol Pete would have loved it.

A bit of a stretch to suggest I’m angry about it. Yes, I’d be somewhat disappointed because I remember Pete and the impact he had on the game. But, for the most part, I just think it would be ignoble and wrong to do.

Like bowl games, MANY of these tournaments are based on match-ups and who can provide the most publicity.

Do we really think a 14 loss Big 10 team deserves to go to the NCAA tournament over a 28-3 Charleston team?

CBI is barely a preseason tournament to begin with, whats the harm with having one of the most prolific scorers in NCAA history play Rice? So a bunch of nerds crying about asterisks feel better about the sanctity of a 3rd rate tournament?

Well stated and if you think the "anger" on here is evident, imagine the out cry from the SEC and pro-Pete crowd. Scheduling one more game just begs the asterisk crowd to get agitated.
