From ohiobobcats.com schedule announcement:

"The following week, Ohio is home for meetings with Oakland and Winthrop. Last season, the ‘Cats topped the Golden Grizzlies, 84-82, before OU went on to win 20 games and play in the CIT."

Wonder what Oakland's media guide says about second references?

I wasn't quite so taken aback by that than the fact they had us playing in the CIT last year.  What tournament did Ohio's PR people go to???

This isn't a dyslexia issue, it's just about  university names. The University of Oklahoma calls itself "OU" and is referred to by others as "OU". I guess I assumed everyone knew that.

We know they like to be incorrectly referred to as OU,  I just love kidding them about the fact that it SHOULD be UO.
The schools in them plains  states seem to have a problem with their spellin':
University of Oklahoma = OU?
University of Kansas = KU?
University of Colorado = CU?

Of course, we ARE the only legitimate "OU". Of the 3 "O" states (Oregon, Oklahoma and Ohio) we are the only one with University AFTER the state name. It's University of Oklahoma and University of Oregon.

So technically WE ARE OU! (Why we didn't try to patent THAT away from Oklahoma I'll never understand).

But I agree....who gives a rip that they refer to us by using a proper shortened name when in the very next line they talk about us being in the CIT tournament last season?? Maybe THAT explains why Michigan, USF and UNC all had so much trouble with us. They were all just sleep-walking through a meaningless end of season tournament. It all makes sense now!

Of the 50 states, I believe there are only 3 in the country whose state name is followed by 'university': West Virginia, Indiana, and OHIO.

I can't tell if people are being serious or not with this complaint....

I am pretty sure they are referring to Oakland playing in the CIT last year and ending up with 20 wins on the years.

Also NYU,

Kansas and Colorado are interesting exceptions sort of.  Formally Univ of Kansas and University of Colorado, but always referred to as KU and CU. I think this exception is fairly common.

And BOTH IU and WVU often times use thier initials.  I fail to see a problem with us being OU (but then I graduated in 1971).

Actually, I believe NYU was named after the city not the state.

I made a deal with an Oklahoma fan I know that they can be OU if they always root for Ohio and try in every way to discredit Ohio State.

That's a solid deal.
Friend of mine out in Oregon went to college in Eugene and always made a fuss when people referred to Oregon as OU (surprisingly, some people do!). He emphasized that "it's U of O not OU"...He roots for Ohio now, simply because I illustrated how Oklahoma stole our initials.

That being said, GO OHIO
