With all this talk of the team not making any rankings or any articles concerning the top teams in basketball, I am hoping the team comes out this season firing on all cylinders.  With the backcourt of Cooper, Offutt, Taylor, and Kellogg and up front with Baltic, Keely, Hall, Smith, and Johnson, I don't know why the media is giving us no love.  All the accomplishments this team achieved last year and now a year wiser and a coach who has proven himself, it makes me sick.  I hope this team runs out the tunnel and take it to them.  It is sad the football team is hardly making any news but hopefully they will start right when the basketball team starts and both teams show the country what type of athletics Ohio has.

Not to hijack your thread but the football team is getting an amazing amount of national news.

Back to your point, I agree we'll need all the motivation we can muster.  Just like the whole eyepatch thing for football, every team will be geared up to take down a sweet 16 team.  If we win a ton of games, we'll get some attention me thinks.

This group will have no lack of motivation. Seniors typically step up their level of commitment - and we're loaded with them. "D" will likely be the best we have ever seen - maybe one of the MAC's all time best ever. I think DJ ups assists AND scoring this year. Ivo I think will also have an improved year after LY where he did not "breakout" as much over his Soph year as most expected. Walt - was the Man, will Still be the Man, and I think Reggie will suprise us with some real Power. Nick will continue solid play. Smith's athleticism contributes even more to tthe mix. I predict a few real scoring breakout games for TJ, and Rico will play as intense as ever. And of course STEVIE - a year of experience at this level - well of course he is all Upside! Green = Gravy.

I see us w/a lot less games where we "let them back in" after we have a solid lead - happened way too much LY.

We will have the eyepatch. Everyone will want us. But not as much as we want them.

With some teams I would be worried they would take a "we made the Sweet 16, this comes without work" approach.  The thing is, this group of guys has ALWAYS played with a chip on their shoulder.  That fact alone excites as much as the talent we have coming back... Knowing how bad they want to prove the world wrong makes me think we are going to see a very improved team in a couple weeks.

It's scary the names you just rattled off and this list doesn't even include the new guys. Can we play with more than one basketball? As long as the Bobcats remain unselfish, many team records should fall.

#Can't wait.

Which makes this team inherently different than the 2005-06 squad. I don't think that team really ever played with that chip on their shoulder.
