This is bizarre.  Sounds like Gillespie has some serious issues.

We got Bean Willis, Tech has Hocutt. I'm liking the trade.

Agree in Bean Willis.  Glad to have him at Ohio.

That one player's name is "Wannah Bail",and he's transferring?  That's too funny.

Good old Joke-Cutt is up to his old tricks again. What a goof.

Beat me to the post. The guy is a paper tiger. Said it since day 1.

His career dies in Lubbock, and rightly so.

Total fraud of an Athletic Director. Texas Tech gets exactly what they deserved. Just like the Canes did (Nevin Shapiro). Loved Kirby and A-Fraud standing outside the new baseball stadium about 3 months before all the A-Fraud steroid allegations surfaced. Then Nevin Shapiro happens b/c Joke-Cutt has no idea how to run/manage/oversee an athletic department. Then those fools at Texas Tech hire him....and now you have this. Gillispie had a terrible track record, totally unstable, yet he was the "EASY" hire for Joke-Cutt. Joke-Cutt doesn't have a brain worth 2 cents, nor does he want to quit playing Minesweeper on his computer to actually do some real work. Thus he goes for the easy hire. See what happens Kirby? Do you see what happens?

Additionally, based on the article - shouldn't joke-cutt have realized there were issues when, say, 10 bodies turned over upon Billy's arrival? 15 bodies? 20 bodies? Now he's up to 30 bodies and Kirby's still playing minesweeper in the office.

Here it is - "I TOLD YOU SO"

This is not really Hocutt's fault. He;'s a figurehead. Part of BCG's conditions to arrive were complete and unchecked control of the department, which the President apparently decided to give him (I doubt post-Paterno we will ever see these offers made ever again).

Tim, honestly, Joke-Cutt is a "figurehead?"

Totally disagree. (Obviously)

He is 100% culpable for this.

From the Lubbock article tonight:

"Asked if he believed he’d thoroughly researched Gillispie before the coach was hired, Hocutt said, “Absolutely. Would I ever have made that recommendation without going through a detailed process and talking to as many people as I could? I would not have done that.”"

I would say he's 100% culpable.

Funny, the Love dislikes Joke-cutt almost as much as I dislike Tom Boeh.

But does the Love dislike Hocutt more than Geno Ford?  I bet it's close.

Has Hocutt ever tried to call timeout while falling out of bounds?  That's the real question.

BL and I have had more than our share of disagreements on this board, but on this issue I'm in 110 percent agreement with him.  Like BL, the first time I met Kirby I thought he was a clown.  He seemed extremely insincere and untrustworthy.  He acted, somewhat ironically, like a vacuum cleaner salesman.  I had my issues with Tom Boeh, but I never thought he was a slime-ball.  When I publicly, in a letter-to-the-editor in the Dispatch, called for the firing of Knorr after the Beefs slaughter, TB and I had a discussion of the matter.  He showed respect for my position, even though he disagreed with it and still thought Knorr could turn things around.  The point is that Boeh was upfront and honest.  Well, Alan would say he couldn't count, but that's another story.  (ha-ha)  Kirby, on the other hand, seemed like the kind of person that would tell you what you wanted to hear and then tell the next guy the opposite if that's what he wanted to hear.

Texas Tech announces Gillespie now on "indefinite" sick leave and Hocutt is taking "very" seriously the allegations the players have made against Gillespie. I'm thinking both Kirby and Billy should have their suitcases at the ready.

Much to the disappointment and disbelief of many on this board, Billy will be fired, but Kirby will survive.

After I read the article, I was thinking that nobody can force you to practice when you're hurt. It happened to me after I turned my ankle in practice the day before a game. I asked for a trainer and said I wanted to ice it. Coach waived the trainer away and told me to get back to practice. I told him no and went into the training room. I later found out he was badmouthing me to my teammates after I left. There is no room for that kind of stuff, and this particluar coach later received his comeuppance. It took a while, but doing stuff like for many years caught up with him.

This is Vintage Joke-Cutt.....

Now he has appointed a non-interim Coach to run the program until he can actually speak to his employee who is using accrued sick days.

I love it. What a comedy of errors. CC is right, Billy Clyde will be fired and the Jokester will once again survive.

Joke-cutt...the gift that keeps on giving.

As an AD, how could joke-cutt possibly miss all that turnover? He was either willing to look the other way or he's just awful at his job.

It sounds like he was about as harsh as possible when he filed his official reprimand:
