Is it true Toledo is not allowed to participate in post season play this year and I assume that includes the MAC tourney in Cleveland?  If so, that sucks for them with being picked to finish first.

Are you sure that includes the MAC tourney?

Edit: Just looked it up and it's up to each individual league to determine if that school is ineligible for the conference tournaments.

I don't know.  I would guess it would because the tourney doesn't show on the regular season really.  I could be wrong.  That's why I am asking.

So this discussion brings up a question.  If Toledo did win the MAC tourney could the MAC theoretically be shut out of the Dance? Or do we get to name the team that gets the bid?

I am pretty sure they said Toledo would not be in Cleveland this year. Not sure where I read that though.

The big one, which we all knew, is that bloody 869. Toledo posted its third straight year with a sub-900 APR, but at least 869 is a notch up from 858 last year, and 895 for 2008-09. As a result Toledo does not get to play in the MAC Tournament or any other postseason tournament, including the CIT, even though by 2013 they'll probably balloon to 500 teams.

I agree Bryan, it sounds like they have a good team this year and can't do anything in the post.  They have been struggling for a few years now and here is their chance and can only win a regular season title.  Which still isn't bad, but tourneys are better.

The actual winner of the West poll was a write-in candidate: "Do We Have To?"

So how will this affect the MAC tournament/seeding/byes? Eliminate the 5-12 game and send the #5 seed straight to Cleveland with a 1st round bye to play the winner of the 8-9 game?

Oh how the mighty have fallen at CMU. Promising just a year or two ago and now picked to finish dead last. Ouch.
