I like the 110 where it is now. It's right across from the visiting team, which is certainly disruptive. Also, they're more "part of the crowd" than when they were in the endzone.

were we treated to the entire 110 because of the floor show or will they be en force at all games? Someone wondered if there was a point system in place early that determines who travels to the NCAA games. I like em where they are but have oft wondered when they are smaller if they would not be more disruptive over where the Alumni band has staked their claim.

There are going to be three different "bands" this season, so apart from MAC East games, there will not be a band as sizable as there was on Saturday.  Although, that's not to keep down on size, it's to make attending the required amount of games more manageable for 110 students.  That won't keep a lot of them from showing up to all the games anyway.  I think throughout the season, the 110 will be about half that size for every game.  Just my educated guess based on what I've experienced the last few years.

I still wish the Ozone would bite on a few of the 110 cheers.  Some of them are clever (Ron, Ron, Ron WEASLEY) but no one seems to catch on, hahaha.

EDIT:  Yes, there is a point system in place to determine who gets to go to the MAC and NCAA tournaments in March.  Pretty much based on seniority and amount of games attended during the year, and whether or not you sub for people in other bands.

The Ozone came up with the Ron Weasley chant, thanks.

My daughter, whose love for anything to do with Harry Potter is only matched by her disinterest in basketball, found that chant to be the highlight of her trip to Athens on Saturday.

Sorry, then someone incorrectly relayed that information to me.  I do apologize.

EDIT: More of those chants, please.

A little late, but my thoughts:
  • I want to see Nick attempt about 250 three pointers this year.  If DJ attempts more 3s than Nick (like last year), I'll be disappointed.  We need to set him up as much as possible, but I also think he can create his own opportunities off the dribble better than most give him credit for.
  • Reggie just has more badasstitude in him...showed up last year and even more this year.  Badasstitude is the #1 indicator of positive results for big men...fact.
  • I like Wilkins, seems like a smart player.  But it was weird seeing another #24 out there (right borna?)
  • Loved the defense, sticking on their man with intensity.
  • Ivo doesn't bug me as much as most usually, but he took more shots than anyone on the team this game...and I'm not sure that should ever happen.  But I feel like most of his shots were good open looks and/or the shot clock was winding down.
  • Continuing my over-analysis of minute distribuion, interesting to see Ricardo with the most off the bench with 19.  Can't say I expected that, but probably a result of Walt being in foul trouble at SF.  He played well.  Stevie with only 8 in a blowout win.  Hate to see his minutes be reduced to this level, but I really see DJ hardly ever coming out this season outside of foul trouble and blowouts...and I'm not sure JC likes to see them both on the court at the same time with the other options we have at SG/SF.
  • Walt seems to get in foul trouble a lot to me, but I could be wrong.  I would hate to have him have to sit so much in a big time game.
  • Love the unselfish nature of Jon Smith's play.  He creates opportunities for us to get the ball, whether it is by rebounding, defending, or blocking...and he promptly gets the ball to the ball handlers and shooters.  I think we may need a Smith-O-Meter in the Convo...could see 60+ blocks out of him.
  • In a weird way, I feel like JC has been around for years.  He really seems to have just slid right in.
I like these guys.  Can't wait for Friday.

More he goes to the rim strong, the better. Hope to see less bouncing off the rim bunnies, more slam it in the hole. More trips to the FT line - where he is as dependable as anyone on the team.
