I don't know about anyone else, but after football season, I'm done worrying about polls and post season play until the end of the season.  We're only guaranteed 31 more games with this group.  I'm ready to just forget the expectations and enjoy the ride.

I agree - if there were a "Like" button, I'd be hitting that too.

I consider polls part of the ride.  I don't worry about them, but I enjoy them when they come.

As long as we play how most on this board think we can play, I don't even care if we ever crack the top 25.  I just want a MAC title, and a return to the Dance.  Nothing more.  If we never have a # next to our name and accomplish those two things, consider me extremely satisfied.

3 games in 5 days.  Great weekend for us.

Agreed. I think we have all kinds of defense mechanisms in play.  If we get ranked people who say they don't care about the polls will care about the polls.   No matter how much you think they matter it's fun to be in the discussion.

Agree with you both.  While being in the discussion is nice, it's just a bonus to me.  I don't come to games, listen to games, or watch games for the sake of rankings and being able to shout out "OU is ranked".  That said, I do a lot of shouting when we are!  Any year we go dancing, win upwards of 22-23 games, and win in Cleveland is a great year for me.  This year, however, I will admit I have higher expectations.

I'm bummed I can only use one of those three games this week, but I look forward to continuing the ride Sunday.

Rankings are something you can't control, so why worry about them.  If these guys put out the effort they're capable of, this should be another stellar season.

I don't know if I wanna be ranked.  Look at the football team.  It killed them, so hopefully we don't have the same fate as they did.  Plus, it doesn't matter what the basketball nation thinks of them, I will cheer as loud as them regardless.

Being ranked killed the football?  Sorta, maybe, not quite.  Yes, it meant that we get everyone's best shot.  That may or may not have been an important cause of our injuries.  We've had football years of bad injuries when we were not ranked--so I'm not sure about cause and effect here.

I trust our hoops team to weather the storm.  Experienced depth and not as physically rigorous a sport as football.

I guess it's this:  I just don't see anything but positives coming from being ranked.  I still think it was good for football to be ranked.

Aspiration = good.
