Going up against our defense...I'll be surprised if they crack 50 and won't be surprised if they are still in the 30s late in the game.

This is the kind of expert analysis I bring to this board.  Stay tuned for more gems.

Well, at least we had some defense even if it wasn't the greatest.

Grinnel College's Jack Taylor scores 138

Box Score
*note the 70 points scored by David Larson of Faith Baptist Bible all via 2 pointers and a few free throws

Sorry to see Bevo's 58 year record fall.  He's a legend around these parts.

We played a lot like a team playing its third game in five days vs a team that had four days off.  The refs deciding to start calling fouls for every little thing in the second half didn't help -- 16 fouls in the first half and 29 in the second; c'mon, guys.  Anyway, a win's a win.  Happy Thanksgiving, Ohio.  Have a great holiday, then come back and beat the crap out of Richmond.

Team played and appeared to feel the same way I did tonight--wasn't really into it.  Students gone, band gone, poor crowd, little energy in the building, lackluster opposition.  All the makings of a trap game.  And while I never felt we were going to lose, our intensity especially on the defensive end as compared to the past few games, was just not as sharp.  Fortunately, Walter had his 2012-13 coming out party, we were at home and we were just that much better than this team whereas a lackluster performance was good enough to pull out the victory.

I'm sure the team is happy that the next four games are coming up and hopefully this will inspire them a bit more than tonight did.

I agree, but don't feel that Hampton is getting the respect they are due.  The Pirates showed me more than I expected.  They matched up well with us and had decent team speed. OUr biggest advantage was experience. Hampton is young.  They may be a "year away" from being a mid-Major team to be watched.
