1) Northwestern's trailing by 18 at home with 4 min. left.  Right about now they've gotta be thinking that their chances of EVER getting to the NCAA tourney have been tossed into Lake Michigan.

2) It's part of the ACC-Big Tewhatever Challenge.  If MD wins, does it count as a win for the ACC or for Big Tewhatever?  Maybe they each get half a win?

Losing to Maryland won't kill their tourney chances. It's their inability to finish .500 in conference play followed by a win or two in Indianapolis.

Maybe this beat down will setup that Northwestern/Maryland rivalry that's bound to happen . . .

Maryland's size and aggressiveness are going to give a lot of teams problems this year.  If they can get any kind of cohesiveness on offense they are going to be tough to beat.  The lead the nation in offensive rebounding and destroyed Northwestern on the boards, 42-15.

Agreed OUVan.  Maryland bball is solid.  The cash from the Big Ten will allow them to shore up their budget in the next few years.  Their trajectory is on the upswing.

Have to feel for Bill Carmody. Northwestern's slim hopes of ever having a good basketball program further marginalized by conference expansion.

Maryland also got lucky with Turgeon.  The fanbase wanted no part of him just like Illinois hated the thought of Groce initially.
