He's gone, so it's too late for that. I can't imagine he would be in attendance for that game. If we had known that he was definiety out after last season, I might have sported a red mock turtleneck and a sport coat last year.

I think it would show everything good about the rivalry and college sports in general if there were some sort of Charlie Coles day.

Charlie has stated before his respect for the OZone, and has even said that he'd love to come sit with us for a game this year to see what it's like inside the OZone. Since Miami is over spring break, and we'll be taking a bus TO Miami most likely in January, it would have to be a different game, but I say we have a "Charlie" day, which we can have a vote on amongst the OZone, and invite Charlie to come join us for that game. Of course, make it a weekend game, to make it easier for Charlie to make it here.

You want to do it right? Hire a limo to bring Charlie to Athens. I'm in, and I think some others around here will be as well.

I think it would be great to honor Charlie Coles! A couple questions I'd have are how is Charlie doing health wise? And would it be better to honor him when we play Miami(so he could root against us) or against another team(so he could root for us and cheer with the Ozone)?

Lets say we had a coach for a really long time who always spoke very favorably of Miami and their student section (I know, hard to imagine, but go with it).  And then when he retired, the Miami fans paid for him to go sit in their student section and cheer Miami on.  How weird and repulsive would that be?!

I'm not saying it is a terrible idea...Just maybe a little strange.

About a month ago, a friend of mine calls me and says,"Guess who I'm coaching against tonight?" After a few guesses, he told me Charlie Coles. Charlie was coaching his granddaughter who played on a boys team at The Kingdom in Middletown. Must not have much talent as my buddy's team won. A week later, another coach was running up the score on Charlie. My friend told the coach he shouldn't run up the score on Charlie Coles. Only the guy didn't know who Charlie Coles was.

So hopefully this means Charlie is in good health.

Seriously, I'd be in favor of anything to honor Charlie Coles.

As for someone not knowing who Charlie Coles is...I know from experience that some Miami students don't have a clue who he is.
