I wish people would stop telling everyone what they can do with their season tickets. I puchased 8 seats to every game before the season tipped off. If I want to give a few away to friends/family/clients then I have the right to do that. I have a family of four, so I specifically bought the extra tickets for that exact reason. Big time programs understand that the person they sold season tickets to is not always going to be the person sitting in that seat. That is why there is so much emphasis on season ticket sales during the offseason.
DING DING DING DING!!!
Not enough people can see the forest for the trees on issues like this.
1. Giving people a first-rate experience (sitting in the lower bowl) is more likely to drive repeat and loyalty in OU basketball as a whole.
2. Ultimately 695 paid a pretty nice price (and donation) for his tickets and like he says should be able to do what he wants with them.
3. At big schools these types of people are called boosters (which has a negative connotation, but I'm not talking about the types of boosters who make the news) and in marketing we'd call them advocates. The Ohio Athletic Department is never going to be able to reach/convince 100% of potential customers with their message. It helps to have people who have tried/liked the experience vouch and pull others into the experience. That's what 695 and people like him are doing, and ultimately it's good marketing for athletics.
