Just shows how lackluster of a coach his father was, he really didn't get a chance to shine like he could have in that system.

He had every chance to shine in that system.  He just didn't. His dad didn't design plays where he was forced to take bad shots. HIs dad didn't tell him to be indifferent on defense.  He isn't going to shine at Pitt either. He'll be a support player there.  He's a very talented player but he's just not a guy that will carry a team.

You are probably right.  He might go on to play multiple years in NBA.  As you well know, having raw talent and playing good/great college basketball are not always on in the same.  I would still rather watch most college games than most NBA games for that very reason.  I understand that there is still a coaching and game management skill required to get raw talent to play together like happens in the NBA but the college game is just much more to my liking.

Just foul him every time before he gets a shot up.

He will at Pitt.  Shoulda picked Duke.  The top of the ACC wins more on overall ability and offense than killer D.

Absolutely untrue.

It can work.

Remember Ron Lewis? As selfish a player as I've ever seen while at BGSU, but when he went to Ohio State he was forced to be a good teammate and became a solid player.

Hopefully Ziegler learns the same lessons.

That's so far from the truth it's not funny.  This year defense was Duke's undoing but most years they are a tremendous defensive team.   They actually might benefit from Austin Rivers going pro because he was an indifferent defender to say the least.

OK.  Show me some stats that have Carolina and Duke (or anyone outside of South Florida and Clemson) ranked high on defense and I'll change my mind.

South Florida's in the Big East, for one.

Going back five season, here's where North Carolina ranked nationally in defensive efficiency: 19, 27, 119, 40, 38.
Duke: 146, 9, 7, 30, 17.

From Mike Decourcy, writer for the Sporting News:  Pitt has indefinitely suspended Trey Ziegler after he was charged by Pittsburgh police with DUI.

I don't know how they're going to replace his 41% free throw shooting.
