How dare you.

Are you  saying last year's team actually lost some games?

Are you saying last year's coach wasn't God?

All those that say JC sucks need to watch all the games where Kent State kicked our arse which was followed by how the F did they do that?

All those who say the current team is made up of a bunch of non-hustlin non-defensive minded  too small can't rebound can't shoot players need to watch the Meechigan/Ohio big dance game......same players......different day.

There's no doubt that it's a good sign for this team to be faltering early.  It definitely means that we're on track for a run like last year.

Seriously?  You find any sort of solace in Bobby Mo or Memphis at all?

Do you always miss the point, or are you simply playing the caricature of what most people think of you?

They won on the road during the non-conference portion of the schedule. Wasn't until MAC play that they struggled.

They also showed they could play with the big boys early by almost beating Louisville on the road.

Looking at the 3 point lead lat in today's game against the powerhouse that is Oakland, this team is not looking anything like last year.

Last year we beat Oakland by 2.  This year 17.

I'm confused.

So, you view it as inane to state that thinking last year's not-so-hot start but fine finish may not be a reason to take hope in the recent two road losses, espec the Memphis blowout?

Maybe you've missed that on this board it is common for posters to respond to, and to extend, the thinking in the threads.

Seriously, what is wrong with you?  Fight with mate..lose promotion at work...life not what you'd hoped for?  You're just one of those schmuck posters who don't like me (that's okay) and who respond not to my posts but with personal attack (not okay).

Stick it, pal.

What is wrong with you.

2 different teams. Last year's Oakland was 6-2 coming in having beaten Tennessee. This years team is a whopping 3-6 coming in. We did pull away late, which is good, but up till about 7 minutes to go, it was a struggle.

I'm hoping it's just that this team is slow to adjust to Christian's coaching methods.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings.  Perhaps I misread your post (or you misread mine), so allow me to elaborate.

My point was that this year's team is no different than last year's team.  We lose when we shoot poorly.  We have difficulty defending.  I found your post to make little to no sense - especially based on the posts in the thread:

"There's no doubt that it's a good sign for this team to be faltering early.  It definitely means that we're on track for a run like last year."

I appreciate sarcasm (which I can only assume that is the spirit of this first sentence) when it is relevant, but no one in this thread remotely implied the last two games were a "good sign." - they are a realistic sign. So the use of sarcasm in this instance makes little sense - sarcasm works when it cuts at the others in the conversation, not when it corroborates what others say.

"Seriously?  You find any sort of solace in Bobby Mo or Memphis at all?" This sentence can be interpreted in one of two ways.  Either you find no solace and are astounded that I find some, or you find some solace and are astounded (in thinking) I find none.

Since my intent (grasped by the other posters) was to convey that we had the same struggles last year - and things turned out pretty well - My conclusion (perhaps wrong) was that you were seeing no solace in the situation and feel the sky is falling in on this team and season - this also making the first sentence to not be made in sarcasm - which I would find curious.

The reality is this team's composition is not conducive to running any tables, or consistantly blowing other teams out.  We will need to fight and claw for everything in the MAC.  Can we get on a roll (ala the Dance) - sure, but not shooting the way we have been.  The world didn't end when we lost to Robert Morris last year, and it won't based on last week.  But it is probably wise for folks to revisit their predictions of our record for the year.

So many folks are intoxicated by last year's run - yet, if you look at threads from last season, you will see folks in January (including probably both of us) questioning Groce's aptitude, Cooper's decision-making, the team's "softness" and our ability to play inside.

My point was not to provide solace nor dismiss angst - but to try to point out the reality of this team...from my perspective...though limited it may be.  Perhaps we share the same point - I just found it difficult to extrapolate said point from your first post.

Agree with many of the comments above.  We need to be playing our best basketball at the end of the season.  Some early season adversity builds character.  The MAC is so weak this year, we have no shot of an at-large bid. So better to take some lumps early, build from those experiences, and be in a position to win the MAC in Cleveland in early March.  The effort at Memphis was discouraging, but I am curious to see if we respond better when we play Oklahoma and when we play our Bracket Buster game later in the season
