Maybe. Morgantown and WVU are a little different, and he's the saint of West Virginia when it comes to basketball.

If the Phillies were playing tonight, Castellanos would go yard.

When I first heard about it, I was like 'Ohhh NBD, whatever he said they'll just say he's a grumpy old man and it doesn't align with our university values' and move on.

Then I heard he called *everyone* at Xavier... catholic f*gs.

That'll be hard to walk back.

I still bet they keep him. That kind of talk will get you leadership positions in WV.

Castellanos tonight homered off a pitcher from WVU. You can't make this up.

E. Gordon Gee is 79 years old himself.

Brigham Young University
West Virginia University
University of Colorado
Ohio State University
Brown University
Vanderbilt University

^ ^ this is where he has been president or similar

If Huggy signed a contract extension through 2027, can WVU eat that buyout? That state is not exactly drooling money. Otherwise, I think Gee would have already thrown him under the bus. Then again, he could be waiting to meet with the Board of Directors/Governors to take a vote on it?? Somewhere else in WV, maybe what he did is not a big whoop. Morgantown is more or less Pennsylvania. Stay tuned.

I don't think they'd need to worry about the buyout if they do decide to part ways. This would be a "with cause" firing.

Yep, that's why at Marshall we used to refer to the school in Morganhole as the University of Southern Pennsylvania, or USP, for short.

Looks like the verdict is in - Million dollar reduction in salary and the obligatory "sensitivity training."

If only he'd been a teacher and mentioned that sometimes people have two Dads. Then they could've fired him with the public's support.

But alas, he just used a hateful slur in a radio interview, so didn't do anything morally wrong.

Where did anybody say there was anything acceptable about what he did? E.G.G. is a very progressive man for being 79 years old. His wife used to smoke weed when they lived in Nashville. He probably would have fired Huggy ASAP but answers to a Board.

I do admit being a bit surprised that he's not pink slipped seeing as Morgantown is more Pennsylvania and less West Pennsyltucky than the rest of the state.

What is that supposed to mean? I support all civil and human rights and reject bigotry and hate. Including that anti-semitic crap rappers spew. I hold Huggy in as low a place as I do the most disgusting rappers...and as low as racist/homophobic "singers" like ted nugent.

I hope WVU has a crappy basketball season. They deserve it.

Is that clear enough?

Whatever Huggins paid to the PR company to write his statements he got his monies worth. It somehow saved his job. I wonder if he’s still coaching if he were not bringing in the best 2023 portal class?

My guess is that there was an agreement that said get this recruiting class on campus and we will let you coach one more year and that’s it.

I bet they let him stay as long as he wants now. They have the opportunity to get out from under the contract if they fire him with cause immediately. If they let him remain for a year, they can't fire him with cause and will be on the hook for the rest of his contract unless they just wait for him to do the next stupid thing.

It's obvious he's had a drinking problem his entire life. Makes you wonder how many times he was pulled over and let go these last 30 years.

It really should have ended a month ago after the radio interview. What a bizarre finish to a career.

You’re right. Everyone knew and looked the other way. Now they can’t. He’s gone. Especially since they only owe him for one year.
