Poor Toledo. Was rooting for them. They play a fun style to watch. Unfortunately defense is not really their thing. Like. At all.
The weird thing is I’d give them a better chance than Kent State for a first round upset.
I will probably take Kent to pull an early upset in my brackets.
Toledo? Not so much. Kent looked clearly more athletic.
Should Kent have been a 12 seed? Would Toledo have been (being regular season champ) a 12 if they had won?
What are the BA experts expecting vs the Hoosiers?
Indiana has arguably the best player in the country in Trayce Jackson-Davis. JHS has come on big lately. They beat Purdue twice. Indiana rarely takes a bad shot. The Hoosiers are a low-volume team in terms of attempts, but 10th in the nation in FG %.
Kent State is a bottom-20 team in the tournament in both rebound rate and assist-to-turnover. They commit a foul on over 27% of possessions, a bottom-50 rate in the nation.
Kent State's best chance: Do everything right. Don't turn the ball over. Don't foul. Get SC going fast. Get Indiana on the ropes early, force them in to bad shots. It's Indiana's game to lose, so Kent State will need to play mistake free basketball.
Think Kent State has a chance to ride some Cinderella wave early, but Indiana pulls away in the 2nd half and wins big.
