Another quiet night for BVP, though he's still starting and they've won 10 of their last 12.

Sears also slowing down as of late. Alabama still probably the toughest team in the country.

I watched the minutes BVP played last night, and although he had low numbers, he covered well on defense, block lanes, set picks, and ran both ends of the court. That's part of why he starts.

And Sears finally had a good game with 19 points as Bama blew out Florida.

I saw a tweet containing UVA's +/- on their rotations and almost every instance where BVP was in the lineup was near the top. I think their best lineup was a 4 guard lineup with he as the lone big (him, Beekman, McNeely, Clark and Franklin). Their passing and ball movement is really, really good.

Currently:

2nd on the team in rebounds and rpg
3rd on the team in assists and apg (including an almost 3:1 assist/TO ratio)
5th on the team in scoring

If they're going to make a deep run in the tournament, he's going to need to improve at the FT line. He and Gardner the only two in the regular rotation shooting below 70% there.

BVP does so many things. Hard hedges on the screens and recovers quickly, keeps balls alive so others can rebound, jumps gaps and stops penetration in the pack line. Most of the things he does do not show up in a stat line. The thing is though, when they really need a stop or a bucket BVP is usually the guy who does it. Love it when they talk about him, it is always good to hear about him and the reference as "transfer from Ohio"

Interesting stat from last nights game Vander plas drew 11 of dukes 24 fouls.

Big night for Sears as no.3 Bama wins at Auburn. He led the team in points, assists, steals, and had 6 boards.

Sears with a real solid game as he led Alabama in their win against Auburn. 15 points (5 of 7 including 2 of 3 from deep), 6 rebounds, 3 assists and his play on defense led the way with 3 steals. stay undefeated in league play. looking like they’ll be a #1 seed with him as their point guard.

He's now the second leading scorer on the #1 team in the country.

Virginia holds by 3 points to 3-23 Louisville with BVP getting a double-double (10-11).Meanwhile, no.1 Bama falls by 9 at no. 10 Tennessee. Sears scores 2 points on 1-6 shooting.

BVP puts up 7 as ranked VA gets thrashed by unranked BC. Whole team only scored 48 points.

When the whole team is cold you are dead. Only gave up 63 to BC but good defense cannot overcome zero offense.

Alabama narrowly escaped a bad loss at home. Sears was 0 for 4 from 3...2 assists and 2 turnovers but did hit 9 of 10 free throws. Bad weekend for Bobcats, current and former alike.

UVA seems very offensively challenged at the moment. They've not been playing too well the past week and a half or so.

13 points on 7 shots is a pretty efficient game.

Outside of Alabama fans, they won't have many people cheering for them on neutral courts come March after the boneheaded decisions and statements surrounding Brandon Miller.

Like I noted, 9 of 10 from the line salvaged things for him.

Another guy I remembered who once said yes to Ohio and still playing college basketball - Ben Wight at William & Mary averaged 11/5 on 52% shooting. A few 20+ point outings and several sub-10 point outings. WM is 12-19 and 8th in the Colonial.

Absolutely gutted for BVP.

Nobody worked harder, put in more time, or deserved the reward of playing in and experiencing a deep March run with an elite team than BVP did.

Not sure what his ultimate career aspirations are, considering he'll have multiple masters degrees. But I'd think he could play some overseas if he decides that's something he wants. Or, he could call it a very VERY successful career and go start the next chapter of his life.

Wish him well either way.

Something tells me BVP's stretch life goal is to be an NBA GM or something along those lines. I think that if he plays overseas it will be not only to continue to play but to aid him in whatever he has in mind for his long to future.

Why are you "absolutely gutted" for him? You should be gutted for his dad, who decided to guide his son's career and make unilateral decisions for him. Bye, Felicia.

Seriously, such anger. Someone refer B-Love to a therapist to work thru these issues.

I think an argument could be made that anger at a college kid you don't know's life decisions is no weirder than being absolutely gutted for a college kid you don't know.

But, you know, that's why we're all sports fans. To feel things. So those in glass houses and all.
