Figured we would start a thread to track our old friends at their new teams.

It does appear Sears started in Alabama's exhibition game against Southern Illinois.

26 Mins, 6-11 FG (1-3 from 3), 4 Reb, 2 Ast, 4 TO, 1 Stl, 13 Pts

Virginia didn't have any traditional exhibitions, but based on news reports he seemed to play pretty well in their tour of Italy in August. He started the last 2 games which were against a formiddable opponent (split) while the first 2 were blowouts.

Both start up Monday.

BVP had an awesome assist driving into the paint, spinning, and kicking it out to a teammate who drilled a 3.

Sears right now has 22 pts (8-11), 7 rebs, 4 assists vs. Liberty and leads the team in all three categories!

Glad to see him slot into a P5 team and show immediate impact.

It'll probably pain me to see BVP and Sears playing elsewhere all season, but I'm glad they're both given the opportunity to play and contribute at the level they're at.

Hell of a line. I wasn't sure he would get the main PG gig but it appears he indeed is. I hate to root against him but I still maintain we'd rather have a cautionary tale than a success story of star players choosing to leave Athens.

I don't think that it hardly matters either way. What will affect decisions are the sum total of all of the tales of players on programs similar to Ohio transferring up. It's possible that Sears' story might carry a little more weight since it is leaving a specific coach but I wouldn't fear it. What is going to happen is likely to happen no matter how successful OUr own transfers are. And as for the specific coach it might help him recruit freshman as much as it hurts in losing good upperclassmen.

The grass will always be greener. Almost every player thinks they can play at a higher level.

The best thing that OU can do for is basketball program is to have the best players and coaches possible involved with the program.

The idea that we somehow want to thread the needle and only recruit players who are good mid-major players but fail a level up means that we are a worse team.

I don't see why that's good.

Some people here didn't think Sears could play at a higher level. Looks like he can. I'm happy for him and think his success will reflect well on Ohio.

I think many people just want to see how he does when Bama doesn’t play cupcakes and gets into better competition and conference play.

That's where I am with Sears. I want to see him do well and succeed. He's a good shooter, and that plays anywhere. My concerns for Mark are how well he'll be able to finish among the SEC trees when he gets in the lane and can he distribute the ball. For all the great things he did here for us, he wasn't an assist guy. I think he'll be fine at Alabama but I'm most interested to see if he can consistently do it against better competition in the SEC and how all areas of his game progress.

I hope he does great things for Bama.

I predict he'll put up numbers against the garbage teams and struggle against the good teams.

I watched a little of Sears against S Alabama last night...game was on right after our football game. He looked like he fit right in but missed a lot of mid-range jumpers and didn't have the best night. 30 minutes, 3-10 (2-4 from 3) for 9 points. 2 assists and 2 turnovers.

Virginia game was canceled due to the football team tragedy. They play #5 Baylor friday night on ESPN2.

I'm holding judgement on Sears until late January with a full month of conference games under his belt against better competition. While he put up great numbers at Ohio, I think a lot of people forget he had a propensity of "stacking stats" late in games when Ohio was completely out of it and had no shot to win.

I also remember him being a non-factor in some of the bigger games of the season.

I think the move to Alabama makes a lot of sense for Mark and I really hope him the best.

Sadly against solid competition he almost always folded like a chair (folding chair).

Hopefully he'll develop into a rock star at Alabama.

I love watching BVP play for UVA. Had a great game tonight against #5 Baylor. Played much of the game and during crunch time at the end.

I don't feel the same way for Mark Sears at Bama, I guess I'm salty for the way his time ended at OU.

BVP had 14 pts. including 2-3 from 3 plus a couple rebounds. Seems to be a great addition to the Cavs.

That's the way I feel, too. The circumstances surrounding the two transfers in my mind were completely different.

Really happy for BVP that he gets to compete on that level and showcase his skills every night (they just beat the #5 team in the country, ho hum at UVA, would have been the biggest win in program history at OU). He fits into that scheme as a good passing and outside shooting stretch 4 perfectly. ESPN announcers had a couple good things to mention about his time in Athens as well.

Still one of my all-time favorite Bobcats.

+1. I'm excited to see what this UVA team can do this year with the talent they have returned and added onto. They have a decent shot of taking the ACC.

BVP doesn't get the start but plays a lot of minutes in the first half. Has a game-high 5 rebounds at the half. Is sporting the Drew Timme mustache or sometimes called a 1970s porno mustache.

Former Ohio coach and ESPN announcer Fran Fraschilla mentions the favorite school mascot of a BAer (OCF maybe?) from Poca High School (West Virginia) - The Dots.

Not a cooler high school mascot in the nation, IMHO!
