Uh, based on the JC quote above, perhaps there are others who are ready for the season to be over.  The quote above indicates players that don't really want to play won't.  I am not in the know but perhaps something is going on here internally?

I was all set to head down I-77 for tonight's game.  I think I'll just suffer through the streaming experience instead.

I personally not let JS determine whether I came to game tonight or not.  He made his decision, I'll make mine.  Come on down!

If my sources are correct, JS will graduate this spring.  That is, of course, a good thing, but I am still very disapointed with JS bailing out on his teammates,  his coaches, and all Bobcat fans who have supported him during his time here in Athens.   What a terrible mistake and a very immature way to bring your career to an end.
I hope that the kids who take the floor tonight in a very tough match-up with Cleve State will do themselves proud by giving each other maximum effort for 40 minutes!

Do we know for certain that he bailed?

Pathetic. Even if you don't like your coach, you play for your teammates. Guess he didn't get along with them either if this is true.

There may be no I in team, but there's a M and an E!

OU VAN....Yep, he bailed out.   Whatever legacy this kid had as a Bobcat after his career at Ohio, is certainly tarnished by this immature decision, at least in my opinion .   Such a waste of an opportunity to play another very competitive college basketball game   End of career, done, over, hang up the shoes.  Very sad to see that this is what he thought of his teammates.

Its just being selfish, you have come this far and been through so much, why give up now? just because you didnt win the MAC and get to the NCAA Tourney? Yeah i get its not the most exciting thing in the world to be in the CIT...Get over it and play. Think of others, basketball is a team sport...just like with Buffalo turning down the bit to the CIT, its embarassing and purely selfish.

Man I know it isn't the same in middle and high school as it is d1 ncaa ball, but between all the sports I played growing up I played on some very good teams and some horrible ones, and it didn't matter what we were playing for or who I was playing with. I always just wanted one more game. He must either really hate his teammates and coaches or must not love the game. Unless it is a family issue or something of that nature, forget him. Obviously never played with passion for the game if he's too good for the CIT, just looking for a spotlight and a free education, which is fine for him personally. I'm sure we've got enough players who will be ready to go for the game.  What's strange to me is Ricardo not playing at all if he was cleared. Hoping to get him a medical redshirt in an appeal?

Rico may be cleared to play, but he is not able to go full speed, or make any cuts or quick movements that I have seen in practice.   I am sure that he would love to be able to play after sitting and watching most of this season with an air cast on his leg, but he is not physically able to do it.  I bet he would gladly take JS's spot if he was able.  This young man has stayed around this team, and was there to offer encouragement to his teammates all season long.  A very difficult way to end your career for sure, but handled very well by this Bobcat.   What a difference his availability could have made to this team!!

I'm wondering if Coach told him his role would be diminished in the postseason and he dealt with the disappointment poorly.    He's been one of my favorite players on the team in his time here so I'm reticent to hammer him.

DD I have to agree with you about Ricardo.  It seems like he is a fine young man and was playing his best ball prior to breaking his leg.  He would have made one hell of a difference in multiple games.  But that is life and I believe he has coped with this reality very well.  I hope he gets in the coaching mode in college or high school, or if he attempts any ball overseas, I will be strongly rooting for him.  As for Jon Smith. I will not comment.  I am clueless as to what happened, and what sparked his decision.  No one, including him, needs this kind of drama!  I am just hoping to be able to pick up the feed on cable and computer and enjoy another Bobcat game!

JS made his decision independently.  This was about HIM, not his teammates or his coach.

its like running 26.1 miles in a marathon and then seeing the yellow tape at the finish line and saying "now I gotta bust through that tape too? hell naw, that's too much, I'm out." it makes no sense.

No one on this website know why he left except maybe LDB. I have seen JS with his fellow teammates around campus all the time. I have never seen JS and JC get into a fight on the bench. Everyone needs to get off his back until the facts come out.

From what I know of the situation, I have to agree with LDB on his assessment of what happened to J.S.   I disagree so strongly with this decision, that it is hard for me to understand how someone could come up with quiting on his teammates, regardless of the circumstances.  (unless there was some sort of very serious family crisis that I am not aware of.)

Until we know the reasons behind why he left we can't judge him for it

We have NO 3-point specialist playing, much less "starring" in Europe.  Not sure who you mean?

So question, does he get to keep his room and board check if he left school?  That's some serious $$$$ and if he just up and left?
