Count me as a big fan of the Bracketbusters.  Maybe we can get a MAC vs CAA or Horizon to replace it.  But instead of playing it early in the year set it up mid-February and have the actual opponents with some flexibility to get the best matchups.

I disagree. It was a weekend to showcase the midmajors. I think the problem was that while you had 8 good matchups you ended up with dozens of others that were bad and required travel that didn't make sense. Plus, you had some of the better "midmajor" leagues drop out so the quality of the pool of teams dipped.

I liked it at first, but in its present form, it offers little benefit to participating schools. Its season had passed.

The problem is that the bubble Big 6 schools want no part of mids on an even keel.  They can have a mediocre record in conference, play their entire OOC at home or at the very worst on neutral courts, beat a couple of good schools at home and claim that they have better marquee wins.  Nevermind that those same marqee names absolutely destroyed them on the road.

Anybody have a list of BB schools we played during this run of games?  I may be wrong, but I don't remember getting games that were all that much different than the types of teams/games we are already able to schedule exclusively in the Convo without ESPN's help.  Personaly, I won't miss the opportunity to play another team that's very similar to who we already play in our early season OOC schedule.

Chicken George- I agree with your overall sentiment. None of these teams were overly exciting to me. The same sort of teams we play in November and December.

Butler was completely off the map when we played them in 2004...it would be the equivalent of playing a Cleveland State or Detroit today. A solid "program" with some history, but Butler was mediocre at the time. George Mason was the best game of the bunch. Certainly not "final four" good, but a quality mid-major opponent.

Come on, Ozcat, that makes no sense whatsoever.  Bracketbuster participants are known before the season starts.  When are you going to tell the 7th or 8th place acc team that they can participate?  Should they leave the date open just in case they're having a shi++y season? 

Then, of course, there's the issue of home games.  The "Big 6" schools will NEVER play a road game against a non-B6 team in February.  At least with the current system we were getting a home Buster game about every other year.
