Play like you....were still on quarters and not studying for finals.

While the competition has always dealt with having tests this time of year, it is entirely new to OUr boys.  I was sitting with my 110 daughter for lunch today and she said how really weird it was to go back to school after Thanksgiving and have to work hard to finish the way she hoped.  After 3 previous years she said this caused a totally unusual feeling.

If this is the case for her, how might it have affected the upper classmen where in years past they were permitted to have 100% focus on the game and not an entirely new routine at this time of year.  My wife says that many people have an adjustment period when the clock is sprung ahead or falls back--imagine how the quarter to semester change might have taken the MoJo away from the Sweet Sixteen Bunch.  Perhaps now that it is all behind them the magic will return.

Ivo is now shooting 50 percent on the season, leads the team in rebounding and is second in assists and steals.

It might not be the way everyone wants him to, but he certainly contributes positively.

Interesting stats, UpSan.  At the same time, the team's performance in our biggest games of the season to date hasn't been what most of us expected.

Ivo is fine, some are just being petty because they have to blame a loss on something! The guy is a player!

Attended the game today and paid particularly close attention to Ivo as he's been getting ripped on this board.   I thought he played well.    Rebounded well, defended well, communicated well with his teammates on defense, shot the ball pretty good today, and when he wasn't in supported his teammates.   Not sure what else he could have done (except shoot a free throw!).   Seemed like an all around solid effort.   Give the guy a break, and give this team a break.....let's see how they do.

Not sure a home game against a team that's winless is an apt barometer for anyone or anything about us.

Not saying UMES was a good or bad barometer, I'm just saying Ivo played well yesterday.   And as others have pointed out, his overall stats support him being a positive contributor to this team.

And how strange will it be to play a home conference game (Buffalo) on 1/9 without the students being back (classes don't start until 1/14).

Know how they feel, tho.  Back in the day, fall quarter didn't start until around Sept. 21 and we came back after T-day to wrap up classes and take exams.  Seems like I always had a final around Dec. 22.

I will admit, he did play better today, got inside a little more and had a couple of good rebounds but, still needs improvement.  Now, credit needs to be given where it deserves and Jon Smith and Reggie really got in there and got some boards.  That was impressive to me.  Question is, why didn't Ivo start?  Some people may say because of the quality of the team but, DJ, Walt, Nick, and Reggie still started.  I liked seeing Smith get the start until Ivo comes back to his full ability.

I thought Christian answered that in the post game....I do not want to put words in his mouth so I will let someone else put up here what was said....or you can listen on the replay. Doesn't really matter what some people say....only coach knows that answer

Understand that and I usually do not either., just remarking where to find it but not wanting to quote it without accuracy. Coaches call in the end. Ric did a noce job starting but them sat for a long time after coming out about 14 and change. I thought he set the tone right off the bat with a nice trey..... I think Coach said something about sometimes it is easier to come in off the bench after watching the flow of the game for a few minutes as a part of his answer that also included something about looking for Ric to provide some energy. .

I am completely surprised, that anyone would be surprised, that Johnson and Keely started, and Baltic and Smith did not. Like JC said in the post game interview - "stats" don't matter as much to him as "doing what you're supposed to do" (or "executing the game plan", executing offensive/defensive responsibilities/assignments - or something to that effect). Hustle and Hard Noses included in 4 & 5 responsibilities/assignments..............

I think the performance result by the full "team" was great. I hope this game to game decision per starters by JC continues.......raise the bar of expectations.......game to game........
