how awesome the Convo would have been today if the students we there? The crowd was fired up and I think the Ohio-Marshall rivalry has replaced Miami in the past decade in terms of the actual dislike between players and fans. I wish the students would have had 2 hours of that domination and Tim Herrion on the sideline. They had no composure as it was. Pittman was talking trash to me before the first media timeout because I told him I was keeping a turnover meter for him. The students/110 would have baited them for 3 more technical fouls.

It was a pretty intense game.  Unfortunately this is what you get with the semester calendar.  Not only are the students gone for the first two weeks of the new year, they and many of the fans will be on spring break this year for the last home game which happens to be Miami.

It was the same way two years ago when Marshall took us on during winter break my sophomore year.

Marshall just doesn't want to play us when our students are at OU. It stinks because this is one of the games I would've looked forward to going to if I wasn't on break.

Agreed. That was a great crowd today...one of the best winter break games I've ever seen in the Convo. Not many Marshall fans, either. Though I saw way too much O$U gear for my liking.

I don't think our fans get nearly as excited for Marshall in basketball as in football, though. The perception is that Marshall football is "big time", even if fans are still remembering the days of Moss and Pennington. There's not that perception there for basketball. Marshall basketball, while usually decent, has never been on the level of their football program.

That's how you play the game.

Hmm - I would say they were 20-25% of the total attendance? I'm just glad they never had a reason to get into the game and make any noise! More than anyone else will bring this year.

Marshall fans were certainly there at the Convo, albeit widely scattered throughout - I'd say more like 15% or so of the total crowd. Of course, hard to tell sometimes, due to both schools having fans that wear varying shades of green.

Marshall fan next to me said out of the 34 years he's had season tickets, this game was the worst experience he's seen.

7,000 people attended a game in which students were long gone and people still might be on that vacation. If this game was on Jan. 19th. It might have topped 10,000.

No way it was that many. 10% tops...and significantly less than they brought in 2010. Granted I'm just going off of the "kelly green" that I saw - so it's hard to tell if someone may actually be a Marshall fan if they aren't wearing Herd gear. In general, though, it seemed like less than they usually bring. And no "We Are Marshall" chants, either!

It is funny that you mentioned the "We Are" chant. While watching the game yesterday from Section 4, I heard someone in the stands behind me yell "WE ARE" the funniest thing was that NOBODY answered the call. I turned around to see who it was but couldn't tell if it was an actual Marshall fan or one of our own mocking them. but I found it extremely funny at the time.
