Doherty was coaching SMU while Jim Christian was at TCU. They probably have developed at least some sort of relationship because of that.

I was told that he is now a scout for the Indiana Pacers. He was not the only scout in attendance Saturday. Seeing Matt brought back fond memories of our trip to the Dean Dome when he coached UNC. I still have pictures with our Bobcat flag that day. We were up so high we could touch Michael Jordan's banner. Good times.....

They don't really have a relationship from their Texas days, but both played in the same Catholic H.S. league at schools about 5 miles apart, though Matt was 3 years ahead of JC.  They didn't play against each other in H.S.

I assume it's not everyday that scouts are showing up in the convo.  So I gotta ask were they there scouting DJ or somebody from Marshall?

The Pacers do employ one of the few NBA point guards that DJ Cooper would present an upgrade over. Hint: his name is also DJ.
