Where is Stevie's grade?

I'd give Stevie an A-.  He spells Cooper quite well, and has improved his jumper.

I dunno. Maybe a B. Not much PT so far. Maybe less blatantly obvious Frosh type errors so far, including less 40 ft bombs, soft/lazy passes that end up TO's, etc. I think this is gonna be a tough, though rewarding from "team" perspective, year for him. We need Coop on the floor as much as possible for the rest of the season - therefore Stevie's minutes are not going to be a lot. His role will be to "maintain" largely as opposed to "make it happen" thru the balance of the season. I think he will enthusiastically assume and execute his role, which just happens to be in the shadow of one of the greatest point guards in the history of the team, the league, the NCAA.........

Unless Groce somehow could personally stop a guy from going 11/11 and 8/8 from deep, his presence still would not have mattered.  We played tough in that game, and that guy was still drilling shots, with OUr guys draped all over him and hands in his face.

And pretend we did beat BobbyMo and UMass, we're still not ranked.

An arguement could have been made that he could have had a hand in stopping those guys.  We specialized in making it difficult for teams to pass the ball the last couple of seasons.  That's not the case this year and that means that shooters are catching it in rhythm. Now obviously guys going 19/19 from deep is ridiculous even if we only have three guys on the court but there is reason the percentages are high and our turnovers caused are down over the last ten or so games.

I was thinking the same thing Van. The 3 pt line defense starts way back in the initial pass. Do your work early. Don;'t know how many times I heard Groce speak about pressure on the passer amongst other things.

Things are different and there are many things we can not really conjecture. DJ has reigned in his shots and is runnig the show efficiently..... that may not have happened under JG....going on with.a litany of differences here would not be very productive or conclusive so the conversation is pretty moot in my mind.

The high-lighted is not a bolt of lightning.  Not understanding and instituting it would be a bolt of lightning destroying our prospects.
