We stormed against George Mason largely because the players motioned for us to do so.

And I didn't understand the Temple storming. We didn't clinch the division nor were they a big bad ranked BCS conference team.

Because storming the court typically isn't a planned event. In most instances it's an emotional response to big victory.   The Mason win was at the end of an extremely electric TV game.  We were down huge to start and stormed back for a big win. The final score doesn't do the game justice.  Plus they were only a couple years removed from their final four run.  As I have stated I have no problem with most court stormings I've seen in the last decade or so from us.  Would love to see a few this year.

Didn't Leon make his three in the Mason game?

That game was one of my first games as a freshman and I still remember that Leon three-pointer like it happened yesterday. Twas a defining moment in my college years.

In fairness to the Mason game, while they weren't super-highly ranked, we did come back from 17-down in the first half to beat them on a rare widely-distributed national TV (ESPN2) game. I'll never forget Bubba nailing a 3 from the BracketBusters logo on the floor. Talk about DEEEEEEEP.

As shabamon mentioned, the players motioning the fans out was the only reason this one isn't put in the "completely moronic" file. The general logic otherwise logic was "it was on TV and they were good 2 years before that", which isn't exactly saying much.

What it boiled down to was that we won a game (and it ended up comfortably) that we were supposed to win, and any time you do that (outside of winning a conference title), it looks stupid. But, the players wanted it, so they got it!

An analysis based in logic regarding the emotional act of storming the court  makes little sense.

Therefore, I approve.

Look at the flip side of the storming argument. Would Duke fans storm their court with anything less than a  win against NC that clinched the ACC championship? If you're good and you're supposed to win, storming the court shows you don't belong.

So i guess Butler doesn't belong then?

Once again, a factually wrong, stick-in-the-mud pronouncement. Duke fans have stormed the court after a win over Virginia Tech.

It doesn't have to right or wrong. It's merely my opinion. If you expect to win  and you are a consistent  winner, storming is bush league. The exception to that, in my opinion, is winning a championship on your home floor or you win at the buzzer versus your arch rival. If we had beaten Kentucky the last time they came to Athens, when we were heavy underdogs, that's another reason. Butler did it at Hinkle when they closed out the win by coming from behind and they hit the winner at the buzzer on national TV(I think it was national TV). I think that's okay.

But in general, I think there is too much celebration in all sports for every little thing, most of which are meaningless. Here's a great article about sportsmanship regarding Stan Musial in the wake of his recent passing: http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/gene-collier/collier-musial-a-gem-on-off-field-671403/
