I thought Western was located in Kalamazoo - not Homerville. the under the basket viedographer must be a trained monkey???

4 minutes and i've seen five or six really bad calls already.

Welcome to MAC play! Refs calling fouls like they get paid on commission to do so is just how we roll.

Terrible passing, Terrible Rebounding, Terrible shooting... wtf.

Being up 4 on WMU, who is shooting 20%, is sad. Especially after having a double digit lead. No killer instinct and it seems not many guys showed up today to play.

Coop has had a good game but what's with the quick 3 with 4 and change? Then WMU gets a 3 at the other end. Why not use the shot clock and run another 20 seconds that possession?

It is like we are afraid of winning on the road, but I think we are going to pull this one out.

Barely ... that was ugly" with a capital U. We have a LOT of work and improvement to do if we have any post  season aspirations.

Getting a win today is a good thing.  Tough conditions from which to craft a win.  A lot of whistling today.

The last minute was not pretty.  Hope we do some intensive review of what we need to do to close out a game.

Can't get sold on this team until it proves it can play a 40 minute game on the road. Western Michigan is a bad basketball team. We should have won this game by 20 points.

Don't understand how all these seniors played that way over the final 5 minutes.
Horrible shot selection with 30 seconds on the shot clock.
Careless turnovers.
Missed Free Throws.

This is a 20 point loss at Akron. And eventually..Walt Offutt needs to wake up.

Lots of fouls called but most were legit (at least the refs called the same stuff the whole game so we knew the temperature) and i can't say that they favored one team over the other on their calls.

the good?  road win.

the bad?  if you watched it, you know.  WMU has no skilled players on offense but they executed well (and our D lapsed at points) and their defense played with effort.  But we didn't win this one by 15--not good.

Do we have anyone beside DJ whose basic repertoire includes at least making a move--even a fake-- toward the hoop when they have the ball from the outside??

i was thinking the same things. some pretty poor decisions by OUr experienced floor leaders. what is Ivo throwing up that airball??? but, still got the W which i thought was going to slip away.

why did we not call a time out when DJ was pinned in the backcourt?

still, given the hand dealt with foul trouble. i'll take it. lots to learn from on this one. should have stepped on their necks up 11, but let them back in the game.

reg played well. given the way they were calling fouls, why are we swiping at the ball 35 feet from the basket?

50% of the first-half fouls were ticky-tack. Prevented us from establishing any sort of rhythm and transition game. Steve Hawkins couldn't have asked for more.

I disagree that this would have been a 20 pt. loss at Akron.

Considering the foul situation, I think we take this win and appreciate it rather than throwing kids and coaches under the bus.

18 turnovers and 59% from the line can't continue.

Cut out 1/3 of the TO's and hit 70% at the line and we might have coasted.

Agree that this was not as bad as some of you were saying, given the foul trouble from the beginning it's hard to be aggressive on either end of the floor.  Most unacceptable as far as I'm concerned is the free throw shooting, and turnovers were a close second.  Rebounding looked better than previous games and I think we can all agree that is one of the biggest problems for this team.  Bottom line is if we're not hot from the floor, especially beyond the arc, it is going to be a close game, and I will take any MAC win on the road that I can get.

Way it was called - tough to pull away.  Plus it is a long trip.  Will be interesting to see how WMU does - as of yesterday they were in SI's bracket:

Not saying I agree, but they are not bottom-feeders.

Also I felt pretty good about our half-court defense - had good speed, movement and help.

It was obvious we have no inside scoring theat when Reggie is out, and he was out a lot with the fouls. Naturally, the offense didn't look great at times. The pace was slowed by the fouls (and by Western).

Ohio's defense was good, though. To hold any team to 28 percent shooting in a game is outstanding. Of course, the one negative defensively was the fouls.

We got the W thank goodness but it was a frustrating game to watch. Offense looked stale, no movement or flow. D.J. had no options. Won it on defense. Could've won by 20.

I know we're small underneath, but we to need to get more loose balls- reaction time, hands, and desire.

Refs bad, announcers good.

Looking for T.J. to break out this season.

No, he won there with KSU in 2003 before losing there in 2005 and 2007.

How did we win that game?

- 6-21 from 3.
- 12-21 from the stripe.
- 17 turnovers.
- WMU shot 34 free throws

Good grief.  If you told me that ahead of time no way would I have thought a W was possible.
