OSU's new court reminds me of Ohio's old court. I wish we would have done something similar rather than eliminating the state altogether.

I loved that court also.  I wish they would put the state outline back on the floor.  I understand the reason because the Attack Cat is so much bigger, so I don't know how they would do it proportionately.  The easier fix would be to return the lane to its old design.  I'd much rather see the MAC logo somewhere else on the floor and the Convo logo at the foul line.

I remember watching some of my dad's old coaching videos by Gary Williams, and OSU did have the state outline at center court for many years as well at St. John.  I miss it in the Convo now that we're a few seasons removed.  Wish we could still have that Convo logo in the lanes, too.

I miss The Convo logo. And the state outline. And The Convo. And Athens.

Our Marketing folks seem to be clueless when it comes to all things OHIO.  you guys can rip Tom Boeh all you want, but at least he understood the power of the state name.  Removing the state outline was a dumbass move. Should be re-incorporated into the Convo and added to Peden pronto.

Agreed and we need to get back to utilizing Green and White as our colors, not all this black. And the new baseball hats!!!!

From a football standpoint...I really enjoyed the "retro" helmets that had the state outline in them...would like to see those full time as well as some uniforms that are like the nike or adidas tech-fit....outside our black uniforms...the others are looking a little out dated with how baggy they are.....basketball wise, it would be great to get a pair of uniforms that have the same font type....consistency would be nice for a change with the basketball uniforms

If we put the state outline back in the Convo, I think it would be in sync to also have it in Peden, either at midfield around the Bobcat or at each end of the end zone... Thoughts?

Has to be a while back ....can't make out the logo on the floor......when was the last time the Convo logo was on the key?

I totally missed the Ohio outline on the floor on the broadcast this afternoon. Great idea with the shading though. Sucks that they are still pushing the OHIO identity though, however subtle.

You didn't miss a thing, actually. Ohio State used its old floor vs. Kansas yesterday. Kinda weird to start sending out pictures of a new floor during the week, then not have it installed for a big national TV game, but that's for them to worry about, I suppose.

This must be in style now. A lot of programs now have a state outline on their basketball court.  I went to the Texas vs. UNC game in Austin, and they have a huge outline of the state of Texas with the Longhorn logo on top of it.

St. John Arena had the state outline at midcourt.

Somebody had a poster in the front row of the upper bowl with a running total of blocks for Patrick Flomo when he played.  He had over 100 blocks in 1 season.  I just remember excitingly watching the guy update the number after a block...and the reference fit well with the Bridgewater/Esterkamp timeframe.

This may not be entirely relevant because it doesn't involve the state outline but my dad is an intellectual property attorney who is defending a trademark case against ohio state right now for a tshirt company.

In their complaint to the court they say that a shirt that just says "Ohio" is infringing on THEIR trademark.  Of course in court my dad plans on calling them out by explaining that it isn't even their trademark and is held by Ohio University.

The company allows people to submit designs online that are then printed on demand when someone selects an uploaded design. When the company said they can't possibly monitor the 1000's of submissions they get every day for infringement Ohio State's suggestion was that they "should just go out of business."

That is silly... I guarantee if I submitted a design that said something like F O Q U 2 or something morally, ethically or equally as bad they would nix it.....

Guess they didn't want to run the risk of having the floor debut in a loss.  They unveil it today vs. 3-11 Chicago St.

I concur 100%.  If we say we want to be known as "OHIO", and not "Ohio U" then we need to push the envelope in using the state names and shapes as much as possible.

We actually decided to put the state of Ohio image on the court during the trademark battle. I also remember the decision not to place a star that represented the universities geographic location in the state. In our minds that "regionalized" Ohio University which was completely the opposite of what we were trying to project which was a state wide image. I also liked the states image on the court. Perhaps it can be incorporated somewhere else. I would also like to see it somewhere on the new turf at Peden next year.

I was in enemy territory today for the O$U/Michigan game, and I noticed something very familiar at the game. The male cheerleaders had 4 flags spelling out Ohio. Of course they were in scarlet and grey, but still would that infringe upon the name lawsuit or whatever? I could have sworn I was at an Ohio because the crowd was constantly spelling O-H-I-O.
