Is it just me or do these guys look a lot different physically than they did a few seasons ago. I don't know if its hitting the gym or aging or what but they aren't the guys I recognized watching in Providence.

I don't know if I can see a difference in Ivo's body, but Reggie made huge strides between his sophomore and junior years. There is much more definition in his shoulders and his calves are much leaner.

A more aggressive attitude is what I'm seeing.

A question though ... I love Big Reg and think he's been playing the best ball of his collegiate career, but I'm wondering why Christian has him jump for the tip-off. Usually Ivo is also starting and he's a better jumper, more explosive and can get up higher. (So can Ric, although Ric doesn't usually start.) Why isn't Ivo jumping? Reg hasn't gotten the tip in the past 2 games.

I think what we've seen with Reg and Ivo (and Ric) is happening on a higher level.

JC knows this team could go cold from the floor, and lose a game we probably shouldn't (see Withrop).  In the last few games, we've seen a hard push from the coaching staff and gameplan to get the ball inside to Reg and Ivo, and to get higher percentage shots.  I think he also knows that both these guys aren't your average big men.  They're both much more athletic and quicker than your average 6'8" guys in this conference, and this is something we need to take advantage of.  If you look at the size of his recruits next year, it's also clear what he's trying to do.

We're playing at a high level right now.  I still don't think we've peaked yet either.  Coop is Coop, Reg and Ivo are playing well.  Ric has been a huge surprise.  If we get Nick's shooting woes solved, that helps.  But, as has been the case, Walt is still the key.  I think his confidence is back.  He's stepping into shots and starting to drive to the lane more like we saw last year.

The puzzle is starting to look like a picture.  I can't make it out yet, but it's close.  Keep pressing forward.  Huge stretch of games coming up.

Personally I'd consider starting Jon Smith for the sole purpose of the tip.  He never misses it.  I agree that Ivo would probably have better odds, but much like DJ at the line for technical shots instead of Nick...it isn't really a big deal either way.

I started an unofficial tip watch last year when I began noticing that Smith seemed to get EVERY tip, even against taller players. I don't think I counted more than 3 times he lost, all season. He's very good at meeting the ball at his maximum length.

I always felt that's why he started and then he and Reg rotated into sharing time. Coming off the bench Reggie still saw playing time of about 2 minutes/game more than Jon.

If I had to guess I think JC is starting Reg as a reward for working hard and playing hard. Plus, he's a senior and has earned it. As excited as I am to see the improvement in Reg and Ric I'm equally as disappointed in the lack of improvement in Jon's offensive game.

Nice Analysis. In general, I agree - especially about Walt.  Seeing Reggie play strong is so encouraging.  Seeing Ric really elevate his game is also great.  I'm hoping to see a bit more in stretch time from Green because of his size, and TJ because of his versatility.  In general, I think things a definitely coming together, and a big part of that are the two guys this post highlights.
