Oregon's non-conference schedule is ranked 229th and they're 26th in RPI. It's how you perform against the schedule.

And Akron's non-con schedule is ranked 174th.

Depending on which RPI source you use, Bryant is around #115.

ESPN's BPI, which takes into account scores and other data, has Ohio at #87 with one of the highest "variations," meaning that from game to game, the Bobcats have played on extremely high and extremely low levels. In the BPI, Akron comes in at #43 and ranks as a much more consistent team. After Ohio, Kent State is next 80 spots lower at #167.

Ohio is #82 in the Sagarin rankings and #64 in his predictor rankings, which takes into account scoring margin. Akron is #52 and #40. Kent State is 136 and 127, so he likes the MAC a little better as a whole, I guess. It's the #16 conference, right behind the MAAC.

Very disappointing compared to expectations. Oh well, C'est la vie. The last couple of games have been encouraging at least.

Just wondering but what do you think our record and RPI would be if we played the schedule you wanted to?

I hope we make it into the NCAA tournament.  If we make it, I pity our first round opponent. We would be a potential 12-15 seed, but we have a sh*t load of tournament experience, and would probably play loose, as we would have  nothing to lose. The crowds would be on our side, and if Walt, Coop or Nick got hot, it could be fun to watch. The team is starting to look alive.  Two weeks ago I would not have written this, but I am starting to believe.

I am really not trying to sound like a party pooper but our RPI and strength of schedule mean absolutely nothing.  The only way this team gets into the big dance is a tourny win in Cleveland.   If we are lucky to do that we should expect another 12-14 seed.  While it's fun to look at numbers there aren't enough quality wins left on our schedule to push us high enough for an at large bid.  Wins like like night just prove that fact.   This team had a nice run last year but the selection committee won't really care when they look at the resume and all those bad road loses in December.

I agree with you, if we don't win the conference tournament we probably don't go to the dance. My post assumes we win in Cleveland, but get a low seed.

They don't mean absolutely nothing.   It can mean a lot of things although I agree it won't really mean anything to the NCAA tournament selection committee.  We'd essentially have to run the table and lose in the finals for us to be even mentioned. But our RPI will play a factor in who our Bracket Buster opponent will be. It may also play a factor in whether we get an NIT bid.  Obviously that's not the ultimate goal but it's still a nice consolation prize.

I disagree.

Ohio really hurt any good shot it had at an at-large with its loses in December.  That said, if Akron and us continue to win in the MAC regular season, I don't think a 2 bid MAC is completely out of the question.  I am talking Ohio and Akron only lose to Ohio and Akron from here out, and that includes a MAC tourney final featuring both and bracketbuster wins for both.

I don't think it is incredibly likely, but I do think it is possible.  Especially if our RPI gets back up into the Top 50.

I don't know the math, but I'd guess that winning at Robert Morris and UMass would have made a big difference in our RPI. 

As for Akron, their non-conf schedules seem to have improved drastically in the last 2-3 seasons.  I think too many people are remembering what their December schedules looked like 5, 6, or 7 years ago.

I dare say the home loss to Winthrop (currently 8-10) hurt us more than the losses to Oklahoma (13-4), Memphis (15-3), or UMASS (12-5)
