I thought this had to be a joke, until I checked the scores. It's now EMU 28 - NIU 13 with 8:07 left in the game.

33-13 at the under 4:00

Both teams should be forced to discontinue basketball immediately.

NIU finally woke up in the last 4 minutes, and "only" lost 42-25

Good grief, NIU was awful today.

Something like 1-33 from downtown.

Not only was the NIU - EMU game embarrassing for our conference... but only 888 showed.

EMU is just a brutal sports school, I guess.

The 33rd and final one was the only one to fall, with like 2:05 left in the game

Broke their own record for fewest points in a half. They had 5 in the first half against Dayton last month.

3.2% FG% in the 1st half. (29 straight misses).

Missing your first 32 three pointers of a game. That has to be an NCAA record.

Buffalo blew a 20 point lead against Akron that would have really helped us out.

Think about this: NIU had 4 points at the half, yet had 14 offensive rebounds. FOURTEEN!!! Think how much worse that makes this performance! According to Sussman over at hustlebelt, this is NIU's worst offensive performance since January 1941 (i.e., BEFORE the US was involved in WWII). And in that case, their 24-22 victory over Illinois State predated the shot clock era of the game.

Anyone who wonders why there were only 888 people in attendance (as was reported above)...well if you'd have told them before hand that the game was going to be HISTORICALLY, ONCE IN A LIFETIME bad, you might have gotten people to turn out; but, when 18-4 at the half isn't exactly a surprise for either team...I can't blame people for finding better things to do with their afternoon.

EDIT: ESPN.com has a HIGHLIGHT video!!!

This is pathetic. Reflects horribly upon not only the MAC, but ourselves. Once again I suggest we bail the MAC. Thoughts.

888 is a big turnout in Ypsi.

That headline on their site is just fantastic. Also, the 11pm SportsCenter had highlights. Probably NOT the goal when the conference launched the MAC Digital Network.

Apparently they ALREADY discontinued basketball. I'm not sure what they were doing out there, but it WASN'T basketball. Couldn't have been. I refuse to believe that was basketball.

828-I really wonder what the Administration and Athletic Execs think when they see stuff like EMU and NIU in hoops.  Did their mothers NOT tell them you are judged by the company you keep?  If we don't leave, we should jettison some folks by demanding that standards be set.  And, if you don't meet em, you're gone.

The MAC should get rid of the team that just went to Orange bowl and made the conference millions?
