Decent read that also gives Ohio some solid press.

"The school he was leaving played in a jam-packed 13,000-seat arena, boasted an ample budget and won 20 or more games each of his last four seasons."

I don't think we ever jam-packed the stadium while here, but it sure sounds nice. I wonder if TOS (or Ohio for that matter) would ever consider scheduling Ohio down the road?

Grammar police alert:

"payed him a fraction of his former salary"

I don't think that word means what Jeff Eisenberg thinks it means. Unless Bryant gives him his salary on a slackened rope.

Frankie Dobbs is averaging 14.2 pts, 4.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals for TOS.  Not bad.  He's also shooting 40% from three.  2.3 TO.

For comparison's sake here are DJ's current stats: 14.1 pts, 8.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2 steals, 35.7% from three.  3.6 TO.

Stats from yahoo.

Thanks for posting this link.  I really enjoyed this read, and it reminded me that time heals all wounds.

When O'Shea left, I remember thinking don't let the door hit you on the way out and almost feeling pi$$ed and hurt like we just got dumped for someone less attractive and more overweight.  I just couldn't fathom Bryant being a better situation.  At the end of the day, he was a NE guy and wanted to get back there.  It's a good reminder that any coach that we bring into Ohio athletics needs to understand all the things that most of us on this board love and appreciate about Ohio, Athens, and the surrounding region.

If O'Shea was still here, I have to think that we'd still have our 18-20 win seasons and be forced to be content with the occasional post season tourney.  We've seen some great bball success since he's moved on, and he is seeing the fruits of his labor finally pay off at Bryant.

I am happy for him now, but I will always still laugh at the, "O'Shea to FILL IN THE BLANK JOB OPENING" threads!

I think I'd take the wins over Georgetown, Michigan and South Florida.

I'm happy for O'Shea. I think he has the right skills and mindset to win at that level. He was a guy who always wanted to do the right thing. Because of that, he really struggled with some of the ethical issues that sprung up even in mid-major basketball. He probably doesn't have to deal with that as much in the NEC so he can bring in guys who respond to him better.

And if he can win, he doesn't have to worry about financial support for the program. A $150 million endowment for a school with 3,000 students.

The article has apparently now been edited to exclude "jam-packed".  Dagger to the heart even if it was never true.  How much howling must there have been to change an article that might be read by a few hundred basketball "nuts"  - and me?
