Awesome statistics! I loved him when I was a kid. I'm wondering about Russel's totals. Were they that high? I don't think they counted blocks in his day, but maybe they went back and stuck those in. His scoring average was not that high. Of course it matters little, as he was the greatest winner in all of team sports. That was the rap on Wilt, that he didn't win more, but Wilt was the superior player in my book.

I was a fortunate little bugger growing up in New England when the Celtics had the greatest run in sports. From ages 13 to 25, the Celts won 11 NBA championships, including 8 in a row.

Of course I followed the Wilt-Russell confrontations. ‘Russ got the better of Wilt early on, but not later. Russ was an incredible defensive player who was noted for directing block shots to his teammates. He worked hard on offense and got much better but he was not in Wilt’s camp on that end of the floor. Nobody was.

While on the topic of the greatest ever, let's enjoy the greatest cheer chant ever:

Akron hates you!
Akron hates you!

Think about it.  How low can it be that even 'kron loathes you.
