Kudos to The Whiz.

4 points
7 rebounds
2 fouls

For a very productive 13 and well above the projected O/U. He also set a solid screen and didn't commit a moving screen. Easily one of his two top performances in a Bobcat uniform. We would sign up for this every game. Keep it going Whiz.
Agree - plus he had 2 blocks - and (not sure) 0 turnovers. - 13 plusses and 2 minus = 11

If he can get to 10 (plusses over minus) - very solid

points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks minus fouls, turnovers (offensive fouls count as minus 2)

Cleve St over under?
Points
Rebounds
Assists
Blocks
Steals
MINUS
Fouls (offensive fouls might be tough to figure out for the -2)
Turnovers

Let's try the formula moving forward. I agree....I would sign up for +10 every game for The Whiz.

One key question: Was there a shot clock malfunction?

Overall, super happy with our effort from last night. We fought back against Troy's full court defense and ultimately out lasted them in the end. To have multiple guys with perfect FT numbers is going to be extremely valuable this year. A few other things I noticed.

AJB and El are shaping to be a constant lineup presence for years to come if they keep it up. Really fun to watch them. Elmore is a bulldozer who can drive to baseline and force fouls and AJB is just a straight up threat on both sides of the court. The steal and near dunk was amazing. Loved after one three in front of the O-Zone he just turned and gave us all a wide smirk.

Clayton can be an amazing player in the paint. Was an encouraging sign to see him inside and fighting for rebounds. The inbound dunk was awesome. I was so mad to see his legal Boals like screen get whistled unfairly, was an amazing screen.

Hadaway - Dude is an athlete and can tell he wants some more minutes. I really want to see some more of him in the future. Boals did elude to more minutes is likely in store for him (along with Ike / Hadaway)

Reef - Dude is an instant jolt off the bench. The ankle breaker he forced was crazy and he is the most intense defender we have. Some in the O-Zone were bummed he fouled out but I wasn't too upset, dude gave it his all. Shooting needs alittle work but comes off as a very unselfish guy.

Jaylin - Off night shooting from him but was perfect from the FT line which is going to be really valuable this year. Also a huge facilitator for us.

Ike - felt like I didn't get much of a look at him but seems very timid / jitterish. I think more minutes can help him get back into a rtythm.

Ajay - I hate to say it, but he hasn't shown me anything new from his freshman year to first game of sophomore year. Almost had one of his passes picked off by a Troy defender. I hope he can develop behind J and Reef this year, junior year is going to be EXTREMELY crucial.

GWiz - Really great outing from him. Now, he still gave me a few heart attacks but I'll take a 7 RB, 2 BLK, and one and 2-3 from the FT line every day. Looks way less lost on the court compared to last year.

IJ - was in street clothes on bench and standing around during warmups. Seemed to be acting normally but I'm starting to get very uneasy about having him available to play.

Overall, had so much fun last night cheering the guys on. Roommates sent me pictures of me on television as I guess ESPN liked my green / white face paint. Jaylin, Miles, AJB, Estis all came up to us during warmups which was very nice of them.

They added more shot clocks to face east-west behind the basket. Everything was great last night - very fun.

Only thing - need a "MAC/Sun-Belt Challenge" decal for the floor on both ends. That would have been cool.

Seriously - very fun time. Our defense is suffocating. Intense.

My first official post of the year saying we need to move the cameras to the other side of the floor.

It looked like a funeral in there. For a person people hated. Our TV presence doesn't exist. Cameras always on the higher priced friends and family section that only has asses in seats during weekend games vs good teams. I'm guessing the empty section behind the visiting bench is allocated tickets for visiting fans - that also don't ever come to games. It's always a bad look.

Student section was packed again. No one could tell. We make the easiest things difficult.

Another nice touch was during the post game interview (surprised they even had one considering the dreadful ESPN+ coverage of OUr home games) Boals gave a shoutout to the crowd and ended it with a "Go Bobcats." Small detail but it just feels good to have a coach that truly cares about the little things.

Why did the Ohio bench have like 48 people on it? Was there like 10 trainers, and will it be like that all year? I thought it looked silly how we wrapped around the baseline with chairs.
I noticed it too and thought it was very odd. There has to be a reason as to why.
NBA teams have about a dozen coaches but use a second row to seat them all. Ohio seems to have that many student trainers but extend the bench around the baseline. Was like that last year.
Does each player get their own personal trainer? No way it was to that extent last year. Whatever, doesn't matter...I just wouldn't want that many people around if it were me.

A post that I never thought I'd see. Serving a lot of that green Kool-Aid at your house? GW 2.0 may surprise us all.

Good solid performance last night. It is only one game, but looking ahead at the next ten games, the Bobcats should rack up a bunch of wins. Only two true road games and one of them is at Austin Peay. Ohio will have a great non conference record.

We’re likely portaling anyway, but with Sheldon the only PG on the roster for next season, this year is crucial. It’s sink or swim for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Reef possesses another year of eligibility for 24-25.

If he does, that’s fantastic. I thought this was it since he’s listed as a grad transfer on the team page.

Pretty sure that he does. Of course, that doesn't mean he'll be back.

If only the people actually in college would act like they were...present company and his friends excluded...maybe Norm wouldn't need to.

Marty said this is the first time we've played Troy. I was surprised. Is that really true? I thought we've played them.

I admire his passion and willingness to help keep something alive that he values deeply. But, I question his method is helping. I've got 2 teens in the house and I can attest whatever the old guy tells them to do is instantly uncool and not the thing to do.

I have to agree. The leader of the student section should not be a senior citizen.
