FYI it's official.

Foster to Illinois State as expected.

https://verbalcommits.com/players/myles-foster

Cross him OFF then...
Now what? Boals has assembled a really great group of wings with massive potential: Hunter, Cornish, Miles, AJB, Elmore and Reef. Clayton is a solid 4. But I don't want to enter next year with IJ and Wiz as our big guy rotation.
We look for another big. Linked to a few names shared above. Guys are still entering the portal. Hoping they’re further along in the process with others and had an idea for awhile Foster wasn’t coming.

That Sellers news has to sting. Ball State, BG, and Miami are the trifecta of bad luck MAC programs over the last decade+. Reading their board, it seems coach Lewis is pretty tough on the players. One poster claims to have factual knowledge that's why Payton Sparks left. Ball takes a step back this year after a promising year one under a new coach.

Boals and Lee are following these two bigs now. Less proven than Foster + Pal and Koroma.

https://www.gobroncbusters.com/sports/mbkb/2022-23/bios/o...

Wilhelm Breidenbach - Nebraska

https://huskers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/wilhelm...

Olayinka has been offered by San Jose State.

The Whiz was also a 4 star and we know that ranking was way way way way off.
Foster stings, but yes, we've had an idea for more than a week it probably wasn't happening. Have to believe Boals and company have had plan B...C...and D in motion for awhile. Just have to stay patient.

Olayinka averaged 7.5p and 5.5r in only 18m/game as a freshman. Listed at 6'10"

I kind of like Wilhelm's game. He won't be an interior force for us though. Unless Clayton is going to be more committed to going inside, Wilhelm is just a bigger version of him with a funky looking shot.

I really did like Foster's game but his freshman year stats at Monmouth were no better than IJ's as a freshman. Look at IJ's senior year highlights. He looks just like guys like Pal, Foster etc. Who's to say he won't make a huge jump? (Internal voice whispers: you hope. You hope).

Here are his highlights. I think his profile fits with the current 4 guard strategy we seem to be employing. Active and athletic on both ends. Wish he had a little more experience since we’re in Jaylin’s last year; but, I like his game.

Olayinka seems like a project with a high ceiling in time. For our last scholarship, I don't know if that fits the need unless a few of our existing bigs really raise their games. His game log numbers at JUCO are all over the place with no consistent pattern, but a few high water marks. Video looks like a Nate Springs clone. Lots of lob dunks reaching above the square, swats, etc.

I went to graduate school at Nebraska and so watch a whole lot of Husker hoops. Wilhelm is a good example of "if you aren't any good, at least play at 100% speed."

He would not be a good addition, imo.

I'd rather take best available rather than a big just for the sake of a big. Another bouncy wing would help us on defense as much as anything.

We've got talented guard depth I'd go all-in and build a team to press next year

I am at the point of wanting a 6-6 guy who can jump. If we are talking just bangers, we do have 2 on our roster and that's not to say Hadaway or Nichol cannot bang. Clayton should be improved too down low. Get me another AJ Brown and I would be happy. Just not a 6-2 or 6-3 guy.

I'm not going to hold my breath on Clayton improving in the post. He didn't show any indication of even wanting the ball in the paint last year.

My thoughts exactly. Some Nate Springs vibes here, but at least he looks more talented than Springs. Just seems like too big of a risk to me with his skinny frame.

Agree. No way can I see Clayton playing the 5. From what we've seen from his first two seasons, he has no interest in developing any offensive game inside 5-10 feet.

That's a bad sign. NIU seems to already have locker room issues (Keshawn Williams) and I think this would make it much worse. If he stays at NIU and plays, he'll get some heat.

Can FearLeon's heart handle a season of The Whiz and The Whil in the paint???

I don't think so.

Nobody as answered my question? How is Ali Ali eligible to play for the zips in 23-24? Is he a grad transfer or what ruling allows him to play without sitting a year?
5th year, he's the same year as Miles (2019)
I'm actually curious on this. If it's his COVID year that's fine for eligibility, but what about the transfer?

In theory he already used his free one time transfer when he went to Butler. This is transfer #2. Do you get a free pass if it's your COVID year that I wasn't aware of?

Same thought applies to Tanner Holden returning to Wright State. Why doesn't he have to sit a year either?

Is there a COVID loophole? Or a return to previous school loophole?
The key is to graduate!!! ... Don't know about Holden, but scuttlebutt is Ali has a ton of work to do for that to happen. Several other MAC schools looked to get Ali in but he couldn't do it academically to get immediately eligible. I'm guessing Akron is the only spot where he MAY be able to make that happen.

Clayton just doesn't look like a 5 to me. Either in style or size.

If that's the plan, I think it's a pretty flawed plan. At this point, I think we're all gonna need to prepare ourselves for a whole lot of Wiz minutes.

Correct on Clayton.

Concerning The Whiz minutes in 2023-2024...there is no way in hell Boals, Thornton and Martin allow this to happen unless they want to torpedo their careers moving forward.
