Is that 10pm eastern? - 9pm Nashville time?

Well, anyway, Vandy is on the road that day and the Preds are @ Detroit... shouldn't be hard to get a room in that Vandy/Belmont area.

I always had good luck on this site for Nashville hotels...
http://www.theglobalquest.com/

The Bobcat needs to be ready for a REALLY well-coached  team -  very disciplined.  Bring lots of people since they hardly ever have a full house.  The first game ever played at the Curb was vs. Vandy and did sell out but half the fans were Vandy people.

Do it!  Nashville is a great city. I move back here in the 1980's and love it.  It's a bit similar to Columbus as far as capital of the state, middle of the state, river through the middle of downtown, major university not far from downtown.

Other things to do in Nashville in mid-Feb. include:
Smoky Robinson on both the 14th and 15th
Kid Rock on the 15th
Larry Carlton on the 15th
Fun (sold out) 16th
Chieftains 21st and 22nd
Sister Sparrow 22nd
Vandy - a number of basketball and baseball home dates
Twelve Against Nature (great Steely Dan tribute) 22nd - not to be missed by Dan die-hards

Being a big Steely Dan fan myself, I'm intriqued but since the originals are still sort of around, the tribute thing is a little premature for me.  Besides, my kids, who don't get Steely Dan at all, would officially disown me if I went to a Dan tribute show in Nashville and passed up all the local flavor there.

Anybody know the Belmont message board?  I want to see their take on this matchup. Other than the fact they get a TV game and we have a little name recognition I have a feeling they aren't too happy with this.

There might be more than one, but...

Thanks, just as I expected.  We are a nightmare opponent. Good enough on the court to beat you but little help in the math department.

Belmont plays a tough one tomorrow night vs. Murray State.  (ESPN-U and live audio streaming at Nashville's 104.5 "the Zone."

Should be a packed house.  Nothing else to do in Murray Ky. on a cold night.

What if DJ had had a close fellow hooper to push him for 4 years?  Anybody know who does push DJ on this team?

The bigger "what if" about Belmont would be "what if" Rick Byrd had been hired instead of Tim O'Shea??

It was suggested either on this forum or some earlier version of it and people went ballistic at the thought. They doth protested as if somebody had "slapped their granny" as the expression goes here in the south.  In retrospect, if Byrd could take a small school from NAIA obscurity to being a solid respected NCAA program - what might he have accomplished at a school with bigger resources such as, oh.... a 13,000 seat arena.

(the gym at Belmont before the one they recently built was comparable to a high school gym)

Rick Byrd is tied with TOS in NCAA victories.  In all seriousness Byrd is a good coach but coaching hasn't exactly been a problem since TOS left.

The idea was what if he had been hired INSTEAD of TO'S, not AFTER TO'S.

The point was that Byrd wasn't remarkably more successful than TOS during those years and we're doing just fine since.  As I said Byrd is a good coach but we've had more success than he has on a national level.  They've been in five NCAA tournaments and were blown out in four of them.  His lone postseason victory was in the CIT.  They should be envious of us not the other way around.

Four of us are going (2 from East Tennessee and 2 Nashville locals). We will be sitting in Section 114 behind the Bobcat bench. Hopefully a similar result as the last two games played in Nashville!
