How many times did he drive baseline and go airborne without knowing where he was going to go with the ball?  .

I don't know.  How many?

I remember it happening at least 3 times.

That's a real "heady" play from a senior. (<--sarcasm alert)

Unfortunately, that's not a stat anybody keeps, because it's so subjective, so it's really just your opinion, which you're entitled to, even if it is wrong.

he wasn't wrong. Ivo does that multiple games. Has a chance to attack rim but goes baseline and jumps to find someone to pass it too.

. . .   And he still leads the team in rebounds -- including a big edge in defensive rebounds -- and is second in assists, third in steals and third in blocked shots, despite having less playing time lately.  Yes, he's second in turnovers -- far behind DJ, tho -- but his scoring is about the same as last year.  Still, everybody on the team has issues [Emphasis Mine]. . . .

Excellent points!  Ivo is a key part of our Big Green Machine.  The new coach is using him in a slightly different manner than the previous coach.  Ivo is adjusting and doing a good job of it.

I have not watched the replay but it is something I mentally kept track of while watching the game. The times he went to the rim Kent played the pass and left the rim fairly wide open. Looked like the scout might have read (we willnever know unless someone pulls a DUstin and leaves it laying around at the restaurant) "player will drive baseline and look to pass, hands up in the lane and cover players on the arc". THat;s how I would write it if I were preparing till he shows me he is indeed looking to shoot first then pass.

At any rate I am going to include those clips to show my fifth graders to go along with my yearly harping that "nothing good happens when you leave your feet". Regardless of whether it is Ivo or not it is just not good fundamental basketball. The fact that it is being done several times a game lately and it is not getting corrected is distressing. That other teams may be  preparing that way  for it is even more distressing.

Ohio is a smaller than average team built for speed and outside shooting.  The team gets out-rebounded by an average of 4 rebounds/game.  But, they average 4.3 steals/game more than the opponents.  In terms of possessions, it is even.  Plus, we have one of the best shooting percentages in the nation, coupled with making an average of 3.5 more 3 pt FGs/game than our opponents.  A team can lose one statistical category, but more than make up for it in another.

Our recruiting classes may be full of large bodies built for rebounding, but with that comes a change.  We will not have nearly as many steals, assists or 3 point shots made.  I'm not saying I disagree with a bigger lineup, but it will shift where our strengths are.

The stat that drives me nuts is FT shooting percentage.  If we are going to have a smaller lineup loaded with shooters, I think they should be able to make more than 69% as a team, especially when our big men shoot free throws pretty well.

I don't necessarily think that we can't still play good defense and shoot the 3 well while also having better rebounders and more of an inside presence.  We are still getting small guards who can play defense and shoot the 3 - see Bean and Wilkins.

Regardless of where this team goes in the future, one thing is certain-we will not have another  player like Cooper for a long time.  They don't exist. He more than anybody has made this team what it has been for 4 years. Thank God we have had him, enjoy the ride until it's over and then move on.

My father, who I wasn't sure was really into the games all that much, has commented numerous times this season "boy am I going to miss these Seniors."  Time is quickly ticking down and no matter how much we critique them as fans do, watching them walk off the court the last time next month will not be fun.  With next year being an entirely new squad and no certainty what the future will bring no matter what the recruiting prognosis is, you never know when we'll have another run like we're on now.  Could be right away, could be several years down the road.  Enjoy this while we have it as it's been a ton of fun and we've all been spoiled.

We also don't play strict man defense.  Our bigs are asked to hedge up top quite a bit and then hustle down to the paint to find their guy.  It doesn't lend itself to solid rebounding positioning.  But we also don't have that one guy that just won't be denied on the boards either.  Hopefully one of our new bigs next year will be like that.

I wouldn't necessarily anticipate that Coach Christian will change to a more inside-power/half court offense type of team.  It seems the big men he has recruited are able to run and even shoot threes.  Will be interesting to see whether they can rebound and play defense against bigs.

Ndour basically can do it all.  If he stays healthy, I think there is a reasonable chance he will be one of the better inside players in the MAC next season.  And he can play all over the court in different positions and different roles.  And, he's really not that heavy...OTOH, Campbell is heavier.

Exactly.  Game changer for us.

May we have two?
