I have heard rumors from friends and staff close to the OSU basketball program that Amedeo Della Valle is interested in pulling a Walt Offut and transferring here if he doesn't get enough playing time this season. Any validation would be nice, and what do you guys think? I would love it! Della Valle is a killer!

I can't say that I'm familiar with him, but I'm always in favor of students transferring to OHIO from our lesser cousins, (provided that the student in question is or will become, over the course of their time here, cool enough to join our family).

FUnny

I just sat here with Mike Drake and asked who the stiff was that was playing for State. First look is how herky jerky he is and the impression I got  of a lack of court sense. Gotta see more of this kid to see what the hoopla is about.

Don't know much about him either, but based on a look at his profile, he's been used very little this year as a freshman. He's shot almost exclusively 3-pointers and has contibuted little else statistically. He's 6-5 and from Italy.

I'd be extremely happy if he did. Walter has been a huge uplift to this team. Valle would have to sit out a year, but would be apart of a roster that contains only Kadeem Green and Stevie Taylor. He would be essential for our back court.

I would be all for it. Kid is a knockdown shooter. The guy would be a fan favorite

Well, I dunno that he would be essential.  I think we're overvaluing this guy a bit because of the school he attends, similar to what some (not all) on this site did with Mr. Green.  If he really is a "knockdown shooter," as one poster opined, I'm surprised he isn't playing more for the 'Eyes, since they need all the offense they can get.  Indicates to me he must really be deficient in other areas of his game...

I was thinking the same thing.  Looking at his stats, he hasn't been really impressive except for one outing vs. Chicago St where he got 11 pts in 13 min.  But I caught the second half of the O$U-Wis game today and he showed a lot of hustle in the short time he was in toward the end of the Badgers' blowout.  They were down by 20+ with under a minute but instead of letting Wis bring the ball up unmolested he stepped in and stole it in the backcourt.  He put up a brick after that, but while he was in he got a reb, 2 assts, 2 blocks, a steal and 3 pts.  He didn't look that unhappy, although the CBS crew mentioned he was trying to get more PT.  Maybe he was trying to put impress other people besides Matta.

As it stands, there is no scholarship available next season.

Also, is there the type of relationship there that Offutt had with Groce?

Scout and evaluate him as any other potential player.  Don't get caught up in any hoopla based on he's 'sposed to be a bigtimer.

Yes, I do have my M.O.

Here's the only highlight I could find of Della Valle (#33 in red) from today's game.

I just did not think he looked, moved, bounced, reacted like a basketball player when I said that to Mike Drake.....but then I may not have seen enough basketball players over time.....

First time poster but long time follower of Bobcat Attack.  There is one HUGE connection with Della Valle that has been unmentioned.  Della Valle is from Alba Italy, not all too far from where former Bobcat great (and OSU transfer) Shaun Stonerook starred for Montepaschi Siena. Just a thought....

That Evans rebound and dunk was ridiculously awesome, by the way.

Not sure that's a "HUGE" connection.  Do we know if they know each other?  Might be closer to a very nice coincidence...

wow that is about 2 hours from Tommy in Lugano. Amazing how close those places are to each other. We almost popped in on a couple of Indiana kids playing in Italy while I was there in Jan. When you are over there 2 hours seems like nothing after flying that far.
