Was driving back from Masillion listening to the game from Kent's radio team .After the game giving the highlights Kent's radio guy says and we lose because of Stevie freaking Taylor. To say he couldn't believe it would be an understatement. My kid asks me if he should of said it and I told him it must have been a coldblooded shot. Watching the video confirmed that

They should get used to it.  "Freaking" will be around two more years.

If anybody has any worries about next season at PG, then you might feel a little better after today.  DJ is irreplaceable, but we are still in good shape with Stevie and "Bean".  Taylor seems to be very urgent on the court with the little PT that he does find.  I don't think we've seen what he is capable of yet.  Today was a good glimpse of what's to come in the next 2 years though.

Stevie lived out one of my dreams today. Being asked to come off the bench and hit a game-winner in OT at the Convo. Lifted up by the crowd. Cheerleaders/dance team chanting my name...

Speaking of Taylor, am I the only one on this board who thinks he looks a lot like a younger Rod McDavis?  I've mentioned this to a few of the folks who sit near me in the Convo, and after a pause and then taking another look at Stevie while he's on the court usually admit they can see a resemblance.  Maybe they're third cousins or something.  Or, maybe it's just a coincidence.  Or, maybe I'm crazy.

Needless to say, that was an "ice in your veins" kind of shot.  Limited playing time all day, just came off the bench and game ending shot in OT.    If I tell you that you have to bet $100 bucks on either of the two taking place as he lifts up to take the shot:  A) he shoots an airball or B) he swishes the shot--and you're only allowed to bet on either of these two scenario's as choices for your wager I'm thinking SportsNation goes 60/40 airball if you're limited to those two choices.

Has to be a huge confidence builder for the young man heading into the rest stretch run and next year.  Seems like a great ambassador for OHIO Basketball and so glad it happened for him (and us) today.

WHere I was sitting ....I said to my friend during the timeout "you go for the win or the TIE?" . He looked at me and said..." I would give it to Taylor for a 3".

Walter also had that faith as he told Stevie that he was going to drive the lane but to " make sure you drift to the open spot on the edge for the pass".

I think Taylor got a lot of confidence (not that he lacks any) out of that exchange with walt.

speaking of our seniors, loved seeing Reg scoop us Stevie in a big bear hug at the buzzer and if you look closely at the vid you can see Cooper beat everyone off the bench to get to Stevie and show him some love. Good stuff.

Some person standing behind me said Stevie Taylor will knock down a Three to win the game, and that was when Cooper fouled out.

I wanted us to go for 2 until I realized Cooper fouled out.  Then I said go for 3, I wasn't sure who I wanted to take it though..

One thing about Stevie, he is a more than solid 3 point shooter, and he is quick enough to create his own shot a lot of the time.  Offensively, I do like him playing more as a 2 guard..  He has a scoring mentality.

As many airballs as we had early on, and considering Stevie hadn't been in much all day and had taken only one other shot, airball would've gotten more like 70/30.

I noticed Cooper had his fist in the air when Stevie received the ball as if he was certain it was going in....Then I noticed he was a good 3 feet on to the court during the breakaway layup by Kellogg.  Had to kill him to be on the bench for the final minute, and had to be a great feeling to have the team still pull it out.

It's going to be tough to be the guy (or half of the combo) that takes DJ's place at the point next year. Stevie plays hard, but we can all agree he's not an all-conference talent. I hope we all avoid trying to make comparisons to DJ.

That said, you can't help but love Stevie's enthusiasm. He is the most spirited player on the team -- anyone remember the "All In" episode last year when he was getting excited about green socks to fit his Bobcat ensemble? -- and he is exactly what a previous poster mentioned: an ambassador. We have chatted him up on the court after a few games, and he is gregarious and gracious.

Go Stevie!

I'm not ready to concede this.  Let's give the kid a chance as a starter.  Right now he's stuck in a numbers game as the backup to the greatest point guard in OUr history.

+1. I can't think of any student-athlete looking as genuinely excited to wear the hunter green and white as Stevie.

Stevie definitely doesn't lack in the enthusiasm, and if you haven't seen the video short on WOUB interviewing him, I'm certain I've never known another OU student with so much Ohio University garb. I'm still not certain I would feel comfortable with him running the show for us though, Willis may take that starting PG slot from him in the coming season. I'm not sure if JC will predominately play Willis at point or on the wing, but Taylor, Willis and Wilkins have some big shoes to fill in the guards spots next year.
