I can think of few things I care less about than Player of the Year awards. And that goes for any level of sport. I know it's something that makes talk radio telephone lines light up, but I just can't work up ANY bile about them. I can't name a single MAC Player of the Year other than Gary Trent and Wally
Szczerbiak. I can't even remember who won it last year.
Seems to me by the end of the NCAA tournament last year, we all knew who was the best player in the conference. No one needs Elton Alexander's stamp of approval.
One exception: Peer-voted awards have any merit in my mind. I'd love if every player in the MAC got to vote on who the POY was. Then it'd be a worthwhile award.
