Only losers make excuses.   This was our home court, in a grudge match, against our biggest rival, in one of the more electric Convo atmosphere's I can remember.    The only thing missing to make this a completely great evening was an OHIO win and we didn't deliver.

But thinking "big picture," not all is lost.  The season is not over and this season could still turn out very good.  How?

Honestly, I prefer the #2 seed if my projections that Kent State gets the #4 seed comes true.  Assuming we finish as the #2 seed that puts us against WMU in the semi's and a potential Kent vs. Akron war on the other side of the bracket.  I like Kent's chances in that game and I like Ohio's chances vs. WMU.  At the end of the day it's Ohio vs. Akron or Kent for all the marbles.  That's when the rubber hits the road and that's when I think we come through.

Not trying to sugar coat a tough loss on our home court against our biggest rival on a big MAC stage.  All I'm saying is that tonight was not the end all game.  Granted, I hate to keep saying we'll turn on the switch when it all matters, as the switch may not still work, but I think we will and in the end we steal another championship from the grasps of Akron's or Kents palms.  Hated losing tonight, but the next one is the one that matters and with that in mind, I'm bummed about tonight, but still optimistic about the end result. Maybe hard to think that way, and it may not come true, this is just what I'm thinking is going to happen ultimately.  See you in the 3 weeks again.

Chicken, I agree with your thoughts here.  I said this to several folks as I was leaving the arena.  Trying hard I was to put a positive spin on the bitter defeat.  But, like you, I can see this happening.  And, if we beat UA in the finals, the MAC will be almost assured of having two teams in the Big Dance for the first time in a decade.  How's that for spin?

there was an earlier post that said we were perfect in November, something like 2-5 in December, perfect in Jan, and we lost two games in Feb to Akron. So lets hope for a great March. Also, congrats on D.J. having over 900 career assists.
