Rebounding...isn't stressed enough in practice and therefore it isn't followed through with in games, unfortunately.

How do you know this?

This is a different team this year.  THAT IS THE POINT.  It would have been a different team even if Groce would have stayed.  We have no idea what would have been.  Maybe we over achieved last year--at the end of the year.  Maybe Groce knew it and that is one of the reasons he left.  Who knows? Who cares?

Asking "What if ?" in the past tense is a waste of time and energy.  Blaming a missed rebound or missed bucket early in the game for a loss in a close games assumes that everything else would have remained exactly the same. We just don't know.

Let's just beat BG on Saturday.

This is far from a perfect (or even fair) comparison, but it popped into my head and intrigued me. What would you say to someone, presumably a child of yours, who told you they were struggling in a class because the professor didn't motivate them enough?

I sat down and went over the homework with them. I understood there are lousy teachers out there so I stepped in and made sure they got it. When I could not do the motivation I found a suitable tutor as I could sure as hell not get the teacher changed.

NOt sure how that works in your comparo

I like this thought, and agree completely, though for a whole bunch of posters, if we all followed this edict, there a lot less activity on this board.

Professor, not teacher. And the person in question is a college senior.

YOu asked a question I gave an answer.......and it did in fact happen in a few classes at OHIO and  Herron Art in addition to grade school, Middle school and High School.

Professors are Teachers too are they not? How does the level of school affect the answer to the question you posed to parents out there?  SInce you are not a parent I would not expect you to understand, but you did ask a question I felt qualified to answer. Not sure why that was not a simple :"thanks for the perspective" but you seem to want a different answer here maybe?

How hard is it to just look at an answer . evaluate it and NOT correct someone or deflect in a different answer?  I appreciate your input but pften wonder why you feel so compelled to answer things the way you do.

Because we're not talking about high school or middle students. We're talking about college students. A lot of people here are blaming the coach for not motivating our players properly. I'm merely wondering if that blame would extend to the academic side of things as well or if that excuse would be dismissed.
