I'm all for honoring Coop's milestone. But remember, there are also 4 other men who have helped set numerous program records. This day is about ALL of them: Coop, Reg, Ivo, Walt, and McKinley. I expect the red carpet to be rolled out for the all-time winningest class in Bobcat history. I think it'd be very cool and classy if they could get Groce to record some praise for the class as well to be played on the video boards. I believe it was his first recruiting class, and what they accomplished has put our program where it is today. I circled this one on the calendar 4 months ago. Anybody who can get there to show your support for these men should make the trip. They deserve it. I'm coming down +11. A few alums coming in from Louisville and Dallas to send our boys out right.
Coop will get his own day in the not so distant future methinks. I wouldn't miss that one for the world either. Go Cats.
I agree about not forgetting the other four.
I circled this one as well. I told my wife I'd have to bed ridden sick, or in the hospital to miss this one. Incidentally, I love the 4pm tip. Allows a noon time arrival in Athens for lunch and some pregame fun. I wish all Saturday home games were at 4pm unless altered by TV. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm honestly going to really miss watching these five guys. They've been a special group the last two years. Even Ivo, despite my frustrations at times, has provided us with a number of exciting and special moments. It's been so much fun to watch Reggie mature from raw big guy into a low post monster. And while I've always said DJ is worth the cost of a ticket, my favorite guy of this group because of his intensity and demeanor is Walt. Walt and DJ have been program culture changing guys. I hope it carries into future generations of Bobcat hoopers. More than anything, what I like best about this group is that they've won a bunch of games over the last two seasons and you've rarely hear about off-court problems or issues in the class room. They're just an impressive group of young men.
Cheers to Saturday! (without forgetting about Wed @ UB of course)
