I have anticipated an OHIO vs. Kent State MAC Championship Game for some time now, so Akron's issues changes very little of what we must do in Cleveland.

My only fear is an OHIO letdown thinking the road just got easier and if they end up playing Akron, it realistically did get a bit easier.  But I've seen way too many NBA games in particular, where one team is sitting out/missing some key player(s), the betting line swells, the other team lets down knowing they're playing a short handed squad and poof, you get a major upset and/or a much closer game than anticipated.

With or without Abreu, an OHIO vs. Akron game will still be a dogfight that comes down to the end.  So I really hope this story doesn't end up distracting our team.  This could really make Akron even more determined than they already would've been, or on the other hand, they could have a major meltdown.  Bottom line, I just hope we bring the same desperation/passion, especially considering I expect to be facing Kent State anyways.

No offense, but I think this could have gone in the existing 5 page Alex Abreu thread.

No offense either as I think you are correct, that is a few pages ago on that thread before it became unreadable--about the time when the wordsmithing game began.  That read was about Abreu, I'm thinking about how does this specifically affect OHIO.  Otherwise, you are correct.

It does change things...starting with later today when Kent plays at Akron.   We can still claim MAC regular season co-champions.   It'll be interesting seeing that game.  Akron doesn't even get a practice to make adjustments.

If we're doing coach-speak, let's focus on Miami and hopefully a chance at a share of MAC regular season title. :-)

The wordsmithing is the only reason it's almost 7 pages long...and still incredibly entertaining.

As far as real game related implications go, this is the first thing I thought of last night.  Zips lose, and we win.  Say all you want, but hanging a "Regular Season Champs" banner has some meaning.  Not as much as punching a Big Dance ticket next Saturday, but it does matter.

Personally, I am disappointed in Abreu.  But, kids make mistakes and soon marjuana will probably be legal everywhere.  Although dealing is a different issue.

As for Akron, I have a feeling Dambrodt will have them as ready as they can be.  I think they still probably have enough talent to win the MAC.  I just hope the players at Kent and Ohio don't think they are walkovers now or both those teams will both be sitting home watching them play in the Big Dance and wondering what if!

It will be legal ....in what amount? THis far supercedes any amount I have seen in any discussion.

My pops always said they should regulate, tax and legalize it. Give the government a cut and let it rip like Alcohol.

That said. those guys I know who have growers licenses have a pretty stringent set of regs to go through.

The one buddy who thrw a couple of bales in his trunk and several plants and then got cought speeding across Nevbraska whilst moving his operation from Cali to Michigan is stil sitting in a Nebraska pen for 5 years.  The law is the law and no one is sitting on a message board empathizing for HIS stupidity.
