I don't feel bad for Abreu, but I do for Kretzer. I hope he remains healthy during his career, even if it's not in Athens.

I hate seeing this stuff. I know these kids don't want to give up hoops, but this just seems to end badly too often, and usually after being given a clean bill of health.

Very Scary. My sister was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White when she was in her 20's. She was working out with my mom and got off the treadmill and said, "Mom feel my chest. This happens to me sometimes." My mom said it felt like her heart was exploding.

While the treatment sounds terrible, destroying small areas in the heart, I understand it has a very high success rate. My sister was told she could live with the condition, but she would have to limit her physical activity and would not be able to have children. She chose to have the surgery and has three beautiful kids.

I'm very surprised he was cleared to play against Miami. I've gotta think his activity during games will be very carefully monitored for the rest of the season.

I feel real bad for Akron now. First Kretzer has a heart scare, then Abreau gets arrested for buying drugs.

This hits close to home for me.

When I was in college, I was diagnosed with a similar condition - superventricular tachycardia (SVT). Joey Harrington was diagnosed with the same thing a couple years later, actually - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/6032297

I had two episodes, once over winter break at home and a second time four months later on campus, both resulting in trips to the ER. That summer, I went to the Cleveland Clinic for the ablation procedure mentioned in that article about Kretzer. Thankfully, I've been in the clear since.

I hope Kretzer is OK. I don't blame him at all for being freaked out after it happened to him. Scary stuff, indeed.

Scary stuff. Wish him the best of health, and he seems to be a nice player for the Zips.

No kidding, it's scary. Hope he'll make a full recovery.

Good grief... after reading about Abreau and now this, I'm kinda depressed. (But not as depressed as Zips fans, I'm sure.) I wanted to beat them in the tournament, but I didn't want to beat them because they lost players.

Indeed. We wanted to be the best by beating the best.

Mardy Fish has had heart issues, and they're pretty much derailed his career. I can't imagine how frustrating and scary something like this must be. Even if there's a procedure that mostly cures it, it still must frighten you to have your heart going off the reservation.
