I purchased my tickets and reserved my room at the Residence by Marriott downtown this morning. I get the feeling Ohio fans will be well represented again. Watching the Akron and Miami game last night and assuming it will match Ohio and Akron, if this years championship will break the tournament record for attendance? What was the all time high for MAC championship game?

Here are the attendances according to the box scores on espn.com for what I figured were the most highly attended title games.

2012 - Ohio/Akron - 10,301 (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=320702006)

2011 - Akron/Kent - 8,926 (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=310712309)

2010 - Ohio/Akron - 9,533 (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=300722006)

2005 - Ohio/Buffalo - 10,927 (scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore)

Anyone know what the capacity of the Q is with the upper deck closed off?

"To add to Quicken Loans Arena’s versatility, a special 1,350′ x 42′ linear black curtain was custom-designed to cover the seats in the 200 sections of the arena. It is made of more than 5,600 yards of inherently flameproofed heavy Trevira polyester fabric. The hanging curtain changes the seating capacity from 20,562 to 11,751 and creates an intimate atmosphere for selected arena events."

12,942 for Akron-Kent in 2008. If we get Ohio-Akron, Part III, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that number eclipsed.

This is the exact type of instance that the MAC office had in mind when they changed the format to give the top 2 seeds byes into the semifinals last season. They would *love* to see an OHIO/Akron rematch. Let's give them what they want.

Yeah, the 2008 Akron-Kent game was PACKED!!  Plus, it was a great game to watch in person too.  Hard to believe this is my ninth year in a row to go to Cleveland.

Looks like we need a Kent/Ohio Final to break the record.  They seem to be top two teams in fan support.  I'm surprised other MAC teams haven't been asking to move tournament from Cleveland and upset the tournament seems to favor home court advantage for Ohio/Kent/Akron.  Only one championship has been played without one of those three teams represented.

I would be all for the game in Indy as it's only about 90 minutes as opposed to about 4+ to Cleveland.  Nationwide Arena wouldn't be bad either although I am sure they are probably in full hockey mode this time of year.  I know it can be converted for other events as I have been there for them.

Nationwide Arena is fantastic for basketball.  As much as I love going to Cleveland, I think it might be a good thing to consider alternating on occasion and breaking into Big Ten country a little.  Not that I'd expect that to happen anytime soon.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  This tournament in Cleveland is the one event that this conference can hang it's hat on as a first class event.  They're not going to move it anytime soon.

MAC has been really fortunate that either Kent or Akron has been in almost all the title games.

Interesting that the two closest schools geographically to Cleveland would draw one of the largest crowds in 2008 then just 3 years later draw 4,000 less. You wouldn't think that many people would decide a 30 minute drive wasn't  worth their time. Was there a snow storm or something  in 2011?

In 2011 there was a big snow storm but the roads were fine well before the game started
