I know there is some debate about the importance of the regular season title, but a championship is a championship, right? And it's always good to win, right?

Most of the freshman class wasn't even born the last time we won the regular season. It's been way too long. Let's win, get the title, and celebrate.

Beggars can't be choosers.  Haven't won one in forever, so it'll be nice to get one however it may come (barring something catastrophic).

But.....since we have the most successful coach in MAC history we should get used to it.

Absolutely. This group has tourney banners and the Sweet 16 banner, adding a regular season banner would round the set out nicely.

It's amazing that Ohio has not won the MAC regular title since 1994. It's not like we have not had some solid teams between then and now. That hopefully will come to an end today! Go OHIO!

I can't wait till next Friday!

How will the weight of this banner impact the structural integrity of the Convo roof when we add our new hanging video scoreboard?

Seriously though, I am all for additional banners.

I've wanted a regular season crown for a very long time. Thrilled we have it.

So this Senior class now has 1 Regular Season Title, 2 Tournament Titles, 12 postseason wins, including 3 NCAA wins and 93 overall wins.  Quite impressive.

I know the perfect way to get 100 senior wins...

Seriously...I was in the student section for the 94 Championship. That whole run through the MAC was magical in 94.

If memory serves me well...vs. Toledo? Gus Johnson 3 pointer won the game? I don't know...I was yelled at by a Toledo Cheerleader for throwing a condom at the Toledo Rocket....Good times.

Never thought it would have been the last one* until today.

*The last MAC Regular Season title. I've thrown a lot more condoms since...

One reason, among many others, that we haven't won a title since 1994 is the man currently in charge of our program.

I detest the term "regular season" championship. It is THE MAC championship. That is what the MAC teams have been playing for since November. There is only one championship. This thing that comes up next week is the post-season tournament. It is a second season. The winner next Saturday is the winner of the MAC tournament, not the MAC league Championship.

We have regressed in recent years to just thinking that the only reason we play games from November to early March is simply for seeding into the post-season tournament, as if we can't distinguish between the NBA and college basketball.

Hail to Ohio - 2013 MAC Co-Champions !!!

The tournament has become important for the automatic bid which creates more interest and excitement (and $ of course) to the season. But it's a crapshoot weekend, and you just hope your team has the hot hand for a couple days. The regular season is the day-in day-out test of the best team in the conference. We haven't proven that since '94.

Congratulations OHIO on a great MAC season. We'll add '2013' to our Convo banners.

When /if we get the scoreboard hanging over center court I hope we keep the court level ones we have now. In one look you can watch the game and board at the same time without taking your eyes off the game to check the board out.
Anyone know what one costs these days??

Actually, I think the automatic byes to the semis takes the whole "crapshoot" mentality out of the tourney.

Agreed. I like the bye setup.  I like that after all the attention, Akron has to share that MAC Championship with us.

Me thinks a few on here need a ton of convincing that it might even have a semblance of happening.

Even when it happens certain people wouldn't be happy.  There's always something to be upset about if you want ot be upset.

Seems Coach is bringing in players who are capable of pounding the boards.  I like that.  Obtaining possession of the game ball is good.  Hopefully, this will bring swattage at the rim, also.

I was thinking how it's turned out to be a  "crapshoot" weekend for some conferences in the past.  I agree the double bye lessons the chances of that happening, and that's good as it  gives more value to the regular season.
