Good time zone for those in the eastern time zone with an early morning wake-up alarm.

That’s awesome. I hope he gets a chance, but it doesn’t seem like a great situation. They just waived two guys they signed two weeks ago and have a team full of guaranteed contracts - which is why he got waived in LA.

“Memphis has 15 players with guaranteed contracts, so there’s virtually no chance for either Preston or Allen to win a roster spot. However, if they signed Exhibit 10 deals, they can earn a bonus of up to $75K if they get waived and spend at least 60 days with the Memphis Hustle, the organization’s G League affiliate.”

Yep, this is about the G League. But at this point in the off-season, that's the only option.

I'm glad he's still taking a swing at the NBA and not heading to Europe for at least another year.

Definitely glad to see he’s sticking with it.

Hope he gets a real shot the rest of camp, with Morant waving guns at anyone with a phone, they might need someone to back-up Rose for a while.

Not a bad landing spot. And it feels like only a matter of time before Morant does something else stupid.

Now that Memphis also has Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose in addition to a young point guard named Jacob Gilyard, I don't think the Morant suspension will result in a starting spot for Preston. They might view him as a long term replacement for Derrick Rose as depth insurance.

Morant grew up in a rural spot-in-the-road town in South Carolina and played at the bucolic surrounded Murray State. Memphis on the other hand has many "gangsta rap" parts of town. The projects they showed in the movie "Blind Side" in Memphis are very real. There are some actually worse than what was in the movie. The area with teddy bears nailed up on telephone poles.

I’m not even sure a Morant suspension means a roster spot.

They also have Desmond Bane who leads the team in assists (not named Ja). As well as Luke Kennard who handles the ball from time to time - or did in Detroit, no clue what he does these days. AND Shaq Harrison, who was defensive player of the year in the G league last season.

+13 Scrabble points for the use of the word "bucolic." Having lived in Murray for three years, I would say that bucolic might be an apt description of the surrounding rural area.

As a former resident of middle TN, have always liked Land Between the Lakes.

Luke Kennard's job is to launch 3-point shots. Did you guys know he is actually from the Dayton area and finished his high school career with the second most points in Ohio history, three spots ahead of LeBron James?

Preston officially waived by Memphis but they retain his G-league rights.

Lots of bus rides from SouthHaven MS to Ft. Wayne Indiana in his near future.

And obvious drop in income.

will be given opportunity to prove himself and showcase his play. unfortunately his unselfish style does not translate to the G league. will be interesting if he alters his approach.

So, do we know which of these types of contracts he will be signing? Seems that there's a lot of difference between the top level and the bottom level of these G League contracts. It has me confused.

Shaq Harrison and Jaylen Nowell (both 6'4" guards) get the call-up, before Preston.

Didn't like Memphis from the start and this pretty much solidifies it. He's just there to get the ball to their shooters. Good money if you can get it in the NBA, but as we've seen - G League is barely paying these guys Starbucks wages.
